L clamped the black notebook tightly between his fingernails and lifted it to eye level. He stared at it blankly, then reluctantly reached out with his other hand to open the book.
The rules brought an expression of disbelief to his face, and he shrugged. Such an elaborate prank. The handiwork was well-executed, though, and it would be a waste to throw it away.
Of course, he was curious. When Ryuk showed up, L began his questioning.
Two days later Ryuk wrote L's name in the book and dropped it in the middle of Washington DC instead.
