Ian Stenlake Appreciation Week has returned, starring Sea Patrol 3: Red Gold ~ Ep. 1 - 5

Really, this is a recap of all the awesomely awesome Mike & Kate scenes from season 3 because (OMG!) season 4 starts in 6 days.

Episode 1: Catch and Release

So, Season 3 is upon us and Mike is rockin the camouflage. I'm really quite fond of the little grey t-shirt all the boys get to wear this season, and the little flick of hair underneath Mike's cap. (yes, I do watch the show for more non-shallow reasons. It's just that the shallow reasons are so much better to look at).
In more serious news, ET (poor bb) has died, leaving everyone quite stunned and angsty.

This scene never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

Kate comes for a cuddle, however Nikki follows and the poor dear is a little shattered. She's just lost the love of her life, and I think Mike and Kate are feeling a little fragile and clingy.

Hence the need to stay close and share meaningful looks at all times.

Episode 2: Monkey Business

Why yes, they are this awesome. Also, Mike's crossed arms should at all times be taken serious. Read: he is not to be messed with.

Nikki and Kate have a giggle over Sir Lancelot the fish and prove they truly are Hammersley's BFFF's

This is my new favourite part of season 3. Whilst everyone else is nervy/angsty/depressed still, after ET's death, something has happened to Mike and Kate that causes them to get....giggly around each other (they started having sex). Hence, we have a series of scenes where Mike is telling someone off (mainly 2Dads and Spider) and Kate spends the whole time smirking at them and grinning at Mike, who then has a good giggle with her after he's finished yelling. *shakes head*

My other favourite part is the sudden touchy-feely. Mike can't help but brush his hand up against her every chance he gets ;P

Mike's a little baffled by the concept of a Monkey aboard Hammersley, which Kate takes as an invitation to bitch about 2Dads (I love the way her mind works). The pair are now so familiar and comfortable with each other that I do believe Kate has a permanent sign attached to the side of Mike's bed/desk reading 'Reserved for Kate McGregor'

*giggle time*
Charge, however, does not seem as impressed by Mike's joke.

Episode 3: China Dolls

*eye roll*
Most awesome fight between these two :D

Arms *grin*

I think China Dolls breaks the record for how much time these two spend sharing 'meaningful glances'

Kate falls a little more in love, as Mike agrees to let her indulge her curiosity. Plus they all get to play dress ups.

*Shock* is this Kate flirting with Mike! Not to mention the fact that she 'knows' his different looks ;P
I love Mike's resolve in the second picture not to look down her shirt like he is in the first.

Episode 4: Guns (aka The Holy Grail)

ALERT: Mike is leaving Hammersley - bad things will therefore happen

Bad things happen...

However, they lead to good things :D ^^

And (OMFG!) Kate touches Mike! She runs her fingers down the length of his wet arm.
*snorts* yeah, so not sleeping together...

Meet Grey T-shirt. There's a reason this episode is called guns :D

After his near death experience/swim, Mike feels the need to flirt subtly with Kate in front of the crew.

And is then adorable

That is until Geoff threatens to expose his 'dirty little affair' :D
Mike, like Kate, is suitably unimpressed.

Kate comes in for the daily bedtime debrief (cuddle) and I'm always really impressed that Mike immediately knows which part of Hammersley makes what noise. I think he has a sixth Hammersley sense.

There's also a really brilliant RO scene that I forgot to put in, where he informs Kate that Mike works very hard and thus deserves his sleep. The death glare she gives is priceless.

Sadly, no image of the dive. But just imagine him jumping into the water in the middle of the night.
We also get the hint that maybe Marshall knows about the 'affair'

This scene...is just brilliant. From the wine, to Kate's gorgeous house, to the fact that she's cooking dinner for him, and that they're discussing their relationship. That Mike believes there's nothing to be ashamed of, plus the grin he gives.

Episode 5: Ghost Net

Nothing much happens in this episode, however RO is awesome, as always.

This scene, however, is a perfect example of their friendship. Touchy-feely, smiling and (finally!) relaxed.
