The link to Wil Shipley's blog post about this topic wasn't enough for me. Plus I'm bored and I can't sleep. Sorry :P
fuckin' ndaSo, if you're an iPhone developer or you've been following the iPhone development news lately, you've probably heard of Podcaster (rejected, adhoc distributed, blocked), NetShare (banned), and I Am Rich (the $1000 app

the thing that's made apple software so good is that they only have to deal with a limited subset of hardware (excluding peripherals). iPhone OS? Only needs to run on the iPhone 2g and 3g. iPod Touch? not so different. You don't need to worry about vastly different basic capabilities across all the supported phones, you *know* that your phone will have only a touchscreen and it will have a camera and it will have some sort of GPS and it will have a data plan..and so on.

But I won't defend it any more, I just do not know much about the development part. Do you mean the difference between S60, UIQ etc.? That is no fair comparison with iPhone OS X, then you should compare the E61 to the E62, right? ;)
What I understood about Android is that it's just a semi-Java phone that is too tightly bound to Google and requires a Google login.

that's one difference, yes. i know it's not a fair comparison, but you brought up symbian :p and some of the issues exist no matter how specific you want to be about the OS and device.
yes, that's it, pretty much. but if it can push apple to innovate more, since they just stagnate if they have no competitors, then i'm all for it.

So if the majority of the widgets ended up being things for posting to youtube or fro browsing myspace or facebook or twitter, is it a surprise that too many iPhone apps end up having about the same use?
I think I will stay away from Android. No google for my phone, for my medical records, shopping list management etc. They have soon more info than government has on anyone.
Getting tired of the SE K750i, but nothing really inspires me to change it to right now. Especially when don't want a contract...

And about google, I guess I just don't care. I can't think of that many things I'd really want to keep secret, and if someone's gonna store information for me about me it might as well be a company that won't screw it up badly tech-wise. If I don't want anyone to know, I won't tell anything, that's it.

i'm curious in which medium that will get flagged most to the wiretapping programs, in pay phone, any mobile, or an android phone?
