How not to do customer support: Mozilla edition

Jul 19, 2008 21:32

Nowadays a lot of companies are using Twitter to advertise and to provide support, examples being comcast, virgin america and... mozilla for firefox.

Two people I follow on twitter (both iPhone developers, etc) somehow got started talking about standards support in Firefox and well...this is not how you should do publicly viewable customer support:

This definitely is not the kind of attitude I remember Mozilla/Firefox having back in the pre-1.0 days (man, I feel old now), and I'm sad to see it happen. Firefox brought standards to the table and forced Microsoft to basically get off their asses a little bit, but it sorta seems the same thing is starting to happen with Firefox taking Microsoft's place vs. Webkit and Opera.
