abortion debaters

It is not pro choice vs. pro life. It is pro choice vs. anti choice. "Pro life" is a misnomer.

Pro lifers have absolutely NOTHING to do with life except in the very selfish way of caring for a bunch of cells but not the human being carrying it, and often times will do the utterly hypocritical action of killing more life in the process of trying to prevent abortions. To be pro choice is to support the choice of a woman to decide what to do.

It is entirely possible to be pro choice and still against the idea of having an abortion of your own - after all, it is all about choice. But you are not everyone else, and some women would prefer that their right to an abortion (yes, a right) stay available while not being persecuted by absolutely disturbing and disgusting protesters who cannot comprehend the ideas of choice and privacy.

As for the government having a say in abortion rights with roe etc., it is a necessary evil. If it were left up to the states..or nobody at all.. this country would become unbearably stifling and be worse than some third world countries on reproductive health services. It's bad enough that known ineffective abstinence-only sex education is being taught in schools. Oh yeah, hint to all those prudes out there that can't comprehend the idea of their darling 16 year old daughters/sons having sex? Unwanted pregnancies go down when you teach kids about how to correctly use a condom or what hormonal contraceptives are. Not when you tell them to save their virginity till marriage...because we all know that doesn't happen in most cases.

And lastly, I don't give a fuck about, nor do I want to know, what you do with your own body until it's a public health issue, which when on the topic of sex does not include abortions - unless they're banned, and women decide to have backalley abortions that are unsafe (more cause to call the pro "lifers" murderers for killing actual human beings). So why the heck are you caring about what other women are doing?!

What prompted this blog post of hatred and frustration: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=6949296747&topic=4008 Wander into it at your own risk. The utter idiocy of many who've responded just makes you wish their parents used contraceptives.
