I was at Mount Sinai hospital the other morning, sitting down, having my regular coffee like I do every morning. I was reading Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix, when I heard my name being called. Turns out it was my neightbour from when I lived in Richmond Hill. My family and I were neighbours with them for several years before they had moved; they were good friends of the family. Fred Jr had noticed me sitting down reading. I don't know what came over me, but I felt quite reassured to see him, it had been a while since we last talked. I remember when he was going out with his girfriend, whom he proposed to, and now, they live happily together in Richmond Hill. His parents, growing older themselves, sold all their things here and moved to Chile to retire about a year and a half ago. While they were there, Fred's father started to get sick, after numerous tests, turns out Fred Sr. has liver and lung cancer. The man has never smoked or drank to excess in his life and he ends up with this. The entire family was at Mount Sinai while Fred Sr was having his Chemo-therapy. His prognosis is 6 months to a year at most.

It's these kind of events that really make you realize just how vulnerable we are.
