Apple Hill House Chronicles: Pain

Apple placed her hand on her forehead, closed her eyes, and paced in front of Aireon who was sitting, smiling, on a bench. Aireon had escorted Apple off into the court gardens while Kimiki went off with Fuu somewhere.

“So when were you going to tell me you married Aireon?” Apple said stopping her pacing.

“When it came up.” Aireon said almost laughing.

“Don’t patronize me...” Apple said opening her eyes and glaring at him, “I’m not five anymore....”

“Come Apple,” Aireon said closing his eyes and smiling, “What is the real reason you would want to know of my marriage? It is not that big a deal to you.”

“It is and you know it!” Apple said marching up to him.

She leaned into his face and he opened his eyes to stair back at her.

“You know I want you to be happy.” she said silently, “I just want you to have someone...who will never leave you...”

Aireon’s smile changed suddenly. His smile turned from one of amusement, to one of softness. He reached out and pulled Apple down to the bench. He held her in a hug for a moment, allowing her to calm down.

“Apple...little sister...Imooto-chan…” he said slowly and softly, “You were always the one of the ones who would be thinking of others before themselves.”

“Nee-chan....” Apple said looking away.

“You have so much pain...” Aireon said looking at her, “And you think it’s your fault...”

Apple cringed trying to keep the tears from coming out.

“So you two really are like brother and sister.” a soft voice said.

Apple jumped from her place and placed her hand on the hilt of her sword. There in front of her was the woman with brown cloaks. She was a small woman with long black hair, and a soft face. She smiled at Apple.

“So you are Apple?” she said happily, “I wish we had met sooner.”

Apple removed her hand from her hilt and stood looking her over.

“Ah, back already my dear? How is Lian?” Aireon said grinning.

“How do you think Aireon?” she said sharply looking back.

“Oh she’ll calm down.” Aireon said standing and smiling, “Akia can talk some sense into her after Kimi gets done.”

“Really Ari,” she said shaking her head.

Aireon laughs and turns to Apple.

“This is Rika, my wife.”

Apple looked Rika over again. She stepped forward and looked her in the eyes. Rika smiled back.

Apple then embraced her saying, “I just herd in my brother’s voice something I have never herd before…There is no doubt that it is caused by you.” Apple kissed her on both cheeks and backed away, “Please do not break his heart.”

Apple turned to leave, pausing at Aireon for a moment. She placed her hand on his shoulder, and smiled up at him, and then left.

“She seems nice enough…” Rika said smiling as she watched Apple turn the corner.

Aireon said nothing, he too watching Apple leave.

Apple Hill House Chronicles: The Southern Wind

As Apple and Fuu returned home, Fuu was sullen as they entered the orchard again.
Jiro was still asleep and she knew it. She could sense it. Her first meeting with the elemental goddess Kimiki was very sad.

She found out that people were rare to have strong elemental powers. And it was, as Kimiki put it, rare that she would have a weapon such as the wind sword, "Snowstorm."

They reached the house and as Apple took off her cloak Fuu went up the stairs tired. Emotionally and physically drained.

Apple looked after Fuu and smiled softly. She knew of the trials that Fuu would face as a keeper of an element...it was all too familiar to her.

As Fuu reached her room, she looked tiredly into it. She then looked down the hall, and saw the light in Jiro's room softly coming out of a crack from the jarred door.

She started towards it, knowing full well why she went towards it.

As she opened the door, Aireon sat next to Jiro's bed with a book.

"Hello Fuu." Aireon said silently, "Back? Then it's time I left."

"'Left' Uncle?"

“It’s the time travel." Aireon said smiling, "Don't worry. You'll get it soon enough."

"What a bout Jiro?" Fuu said slowly, "Are you coming back?"

Aireon smiled and placed his hand on her head.

"Watch over him for me. He's just sleeping now, and could wake up any moment."

With that he left her in Jiro's room.

Fuu, tired herself, went to the chair that Aireon was sitting in, and sat down herself. She looked upon Jiro and lowered her head.

Jiro risked his life for her. A man that she never really knew from her present, yet from what had happened over the past few weeks she knew all of their history.

"The power of the spell our predecessors placed on their souls," Fuu said touching his head, "They didn't know if I would love you, so why, why do you love me?"

Fuu laid her head down next to his body on his bed, and fell asleep.

Apple smiled wirily, and shut off the light.

------------------------------

Jiro woke up the next morning, and watched the red leaves dance in the breeze outside his window.

He turned his head quickly as he heard a moan from his right side.

He stared at Fuu's face for a moment, a little surprised that she was there. He then smiled softly, and placed his hand on her head. Her head jerked once, and she remained motionless, letting out on a deep sigh.

"Fuu stayed here all night Jiro-kun."

Jiro looked up and saw Apple standing in the doorway wiping her hands on a towel.

Jiro looked back at Fuu and moved her hair away from her eyes.

"Fuu...she is very loyal despite not knowing what she wants." Jiro said slowly.

"If it's one thing I know I taught her right, it was being loyal to what she believes to be right." Apple said moving out of the doorway, "Lunch is ready. I'll bring you a tray if you wish."

Jiro sighed. He shook his head and got up not disturbing Fuu. As he stood up, he faltered a bit, from not walking for a while, and then went to his closet.

As he came back out with a robe, and a brown looking outfit (this of course being his set of immortal robes that he keeps in the mortal realm) he saw Fuu again. He went over to her and lifted her up into his arms, and took her into her room. He laid her down onto her bed, and covered her up.

As he shut the door to her room, he smiled.

-----------------------------------------------

Fuu woke with a start. She didn't recall the room for a moment, but saw the familiar surroundings. She opened the curtains and let the October light fall into the room.
She took off her robes and placed a warm winter dress on that she took from her drawer.

As she finished dressing, she took a book that was lying on her dresser, and went down stairs to the kitchen where Apple was cooking breakfast. At the table Jiro (who was sipping some tea with closed eyes) sat with Apple-chan and Eric. As she moved to speak with Apple, she saw the brown colored robes Jiro wore, and for a moment, didn’t realize what they were.

She ignored them for the moment and continued to go next to Apple.

“Good morning dear.” Apple said not taking her eyes off the pot of porage.

“What day is it?” Fuu said as she rubbed her eyes, “I feel as if it’s been almost a year since I fell asleep.”

“No.” Apple said smiling, “Just a month…You were very drained…I expected as much from you.”

“Ugh” Fuu said moving back to the table. She was thinking how she was going to explain this to her teachers at school.

“Oh, I forgot to tell you,” Apple said as she turned off the stove and turned to her, “Don’t worry about school. Jiro has kindly offered to take you back to when you missed classes that day. Just take your time healing.”

Fuu narrowed her eyes at this and glared at Jiro who was still sipping his tea near her. She knew exactly what Apple meant at this, and it annoyed her to no end.

“Fuu,” Apple said placing Eric’s and Apple-chan’s porage in front of them, “Until you get you qualification for Time Travel you can not perform any spells unless directed by your teacher.

“Oh, and on that subject Fuu,” Apple said producing a rolled up piece of what looked like paper (Fuu had no clue what parchment looked like), “Kimiki sent this yesterday.”

Fuu took it and looked at it all around. She saw nothing but a white wax seal with some pretty décor.

“How do you know it’s from her?” Fuu said entranced by it.

“The Elemental Council always uses that stamp.” Jiro said, “And the color of the wax tells which department it came from. Though that stamp also has on it the royal seal of the High Princess of Helana. So it’s safe to assume it came from her.”

“Two seals?” Fuu said still looking at it.

“Keep watching…”Jiro said sipping his tea.

At that moment the seal change and is now a new one.

“What the Hell?” Fuu said throwing the roll away from her.

Apple smiled and chuckled. Jiro almost snorted tea out of his nose.

“What’s going on Apple?” Eric said tugging on her dress.

Apple hugged him and said, “She’s just adjusting to her new role. Do you not remember your’s?”

Eric nodded, hugged Apple back and hurried to finish up his breakfast.

“Ten minutes till I leave for school.” Said Apple looking at her watch that hung on her necklace, “Jiro has business to do and Fuu…despite your enthusiasm to return to school, I have to keep you here for bed rest.”

Fuu nodded and looked down at the parchment roll. She didn’t want anyone near here when she opened it…she just wanted to contemplate the situation more.

“Well,” said Jiro stirring Fuu back to the conversation with a loud snapping sound, “Looks like I have to be going now. The council’s office is opening about now.”

Fuu watched as he set his tea cup down, and stood up wiping his mouth.

“Good day all.” He said clapping his hands, and suddenly disappearing from the room.

“Ahhh,” said Apple-chan smiling at the place Jiro had once stood, “He is so cute.”

-----------------------------------------------

Fuu sat later that day in the tree outside of the house in the back garden. Since it was fall, most of the leaves were gone, and the tree offered many places to sit comfortly. Fuu sighed as she stared off into the sky, holding onto her orders form Kimiki, which was placed in her book from that morning. No matter how hard she tried, she could not get any farther into the book than a few sentences before her thoughts overwhelmed her.

“So you are here.” Said a voice from below.

Fuu looked down and saw Jiro looking up at her. He wasn’t smiling like he always did to her…she thought that he looked a little tired, even though Apple had said he was fit to return to his work.

Jiro jumped up to a branch near Fuu and looked down to her.

“So you have received your orders. What do you think of the High Princess?”

Fuu turned from him and looked back at the sky.

“I can not say, I do not know her well enough.”

For a moment, nothing was said, and that was enough for Fuu.

“Fuu,” Jiro said sadly, “Things are changing for our worlds…you have felt the shift here…haven’t you?”

Fuu looked to him suddenly, and found him staring off into the sky like she had just been doing, except this time she saw him in a more serious light.

“Jiro-san,” Fuu said closing her book, “I don’t know what you are talking about, but yes, I have felt some strange things lately…something in the air…” Fuu stood and joined him looking off into the sky and said, “Things are going to get more difficult huh?”

Jiro said nothing.

-----------------------------------------------

Behind them, Apple stood watching them from the roof of the house. She closed her eyes and again, stood as if on one toe, surrounded by a strange light.

Six stones floated around her and she reached out and grabbed the one what was crystal clear.

“One has awakened…” she said opening her eyes, “One who is our ally…”

She looked off into the setting sun.

“May God save the others as well...”

End Chapter 1: 風が有する剣
kaze ga yuusuru ken
Wind's Sword
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------

Editor's Note:
I wasn't too sure how to write "Wind's Sword" in Romaji so I left it as English. The word "no" I thought would apply I believe for it's possessive quality, much like in English when you add "'s" to the end of a name to show belonging. But then I remembered that it was most likely be more applied because of it's possessive "of" quality (as in Seikai no Monshou)

Meh, I'm a n00b.

Edit: Xazy-sama though it would be better as this: "kaze ga yuusuru ken" and that literally means "The Sword That is Owned by the Wind", But because this is America (and you know how they butcher anything Japanese), it shall have the very raw translation of "Wind's Sword".

kanji, ahh: story, ahh, xazy, romaji, japanese, apple hill house
