The Immortal Wind Servant
“Welcome to the Hall of Records!” a woman in the same uniform as the one before says, “How may I help you today?”
Apple stepped up to the counter and produced the same ball of light as before. The woman took it and closed her eyes.
“Oh!” she said opening them, “We got your information from the Gatekeeper. So who is it that is applying for citizenship?”
Fuu felt a nudge from Aireon, and she stepped up.
“It is me.”
“Ok then. I need you to state your claim please.” The woman smiled at her. “Mortal citizenship, Birthright, or Death.
“Claim?” Fuu said perplexed.
“Birthright.” Apple said to the woman, “She is here to claim the Shiba clan birthright.”
“I need her blood ID please then.” the woman said reaching for something under the desk, “that and the filer’s blood ID too.”
“Blood ID?” Fuu said eyes widening,
“Needle or Knife?” the woman said holding up the items.
“I’ll take the knife....” Apple said with a whisper and a small grin.
As Apple looked over the knife, (“Interesting specimen. Don’t you agree brother?”) Fuu stepped back as the woman looked at her. Drawing blood was not her forte. She held out her arm and closed her eyes tightly. She cursed under her breath for liking the art of fighting with bloody instruments, yet hated when she saw herself bleed.
“Done!” said the woman
Fuu looked up and saw the woman holding the needle with her blood. She was placing it into a vile, as she saw it glitter....and it was white.
“What the Hell?” she stammered.
Aireon and Apple smiled.
“Immortal blood,” Apple said taking the knife and raising her left forearm, “Is the life of our magic, and immortality.”
She closed her eyes and whipped her forearm with the knife. Apple did not cringe, convulse, or grimace at what she had just done. Fuu stepped back in horror, and Apple reopened her eyes.
“Our blood was given to us by our parents,” Apple said as a trickle of silver slid down her arm from a cut, “forged with the base of immortal magic... the spirit of love.”
Apple turned and let the woman form the counter take her blood.
“Blood forged from pain....” Aireon began slowly, “Begets pain, just as blood from love, begets love....”
He looked down at her, “Remember that....”
Fuu nodded her head slowly and watched as Apple placed her hand over the cut, and it was gone as she made rubbing motions over it. No scar remained.
“Just a moment please.” said the woman bowed and left.
Not less than a moment later, the woman returned with a set of files and keys.
“Your blood has been stored for legal purpose,” she said setting the things down, “You are who you say you are.”
Apple smiled, “It is time I reduce this spell to rubble.”
The woman nodded.
“As the filer of this claim,” the woman stated, “You are privy to any information here in the database, and have access to any room in order to undo the spell on Lady Shiba here.”
“’Lady?’” Fuu said
“Thank you.” Apple said taking the keys and file, “We thank you for your pains.”
The woman bows low.
“It is an honor to serve people such as yourselves. If you need any help, just ask me.”
Apple bows, and then leaves. Fuu bows quickly and tags along after her.
------------------
“What’s this ‘lady’ thing?”
“You are the last remaining Shiba clan member here.” Apple said as they walked along a long hall with many numbered doors. “You are automatically granted a title befitting the leading of a clan.”
“‘Clan?’”
“Your family line.” Aireon said chuckling, “You do have much to learn though....”
“Not my fault.” Apple said slowly narrowing her eyes at Aireon
They stop at a door, and Apple inserts a key. She opens the door, and the others follow her inside. Fuu looked perplexed about this room.
It circular, is dark, except for a few candles that glow. On the floor are lines drawn, and raised slightly. in the center of the circles, a place for a person to stand.
“Take your place brother...” Apple said athoitivly , “Fuu stand in the middle.”
Fuu cautiously stepped to the center and watched as Apple and Aireon took places in front and back of her.
“This will be strange,” Aireon told her, “But just do as your heart tells you.”
Fuu nods.
Apple and Aireon hold out their hands, and in them suddenly, staffs appear. Fuu could hardly see their staffs as the lights in the room went black. Circles appeared beneath Apple's and Aireon's feet, and spread out.
Fuu stood still. She was scared, but something told her to stay still.
Wind suddenly whipped up around Fuu, and she closed her eyes. Beneath her feat, circles much like those belonging to Apple and Aireon, appeared where the lines where before. She was lifted a bit from the floor, but looked like she was sleeping.
A light appeared from her chest, and she leaned back, as if some invisible force held her. From her chest, a white light covered the room. It rose into the air, and formed a shaft of light from Fuu’s chest.
The wind died just as the light did, and she was placed back onto the ground. The magic circles faded, just as the candles began to burn again.
Fuu opened her eyes, and in front of her, a white staff was hovering in front of her. On the top, a white stone glittered, as gold bands curved around the staff.
“Grasp it Fuu.” Apple’s gentle voice said..
Fuu reached for it. As she grasped it in her hand, she felt something strange flow from the staff into her body. She closed her eyes, and took it in both hands, and griped it tight.
“This is your staff,” Apple said as Fuu opened her eyes. Fuu looked to Apple as she stepped forward, “With it you can cast deadly, and life saving spells.
“This is the main outlet of your powers,” Aireon said stepping to her other side, “and with it, nothing is imposable to do. A most deadly weapon if used right.”
Fuu looked at it again, and felt it’s power once again.
“To be kept away,” she said holding it out, “Locked away in my heart, until I call it to my side.”
It disappeared from her hands, not shocking her a bit. The staff told her those words, and others, ones to call it forth when needed again.
“Weather silent or spoken,” Fuu said closing her eyes, “It will come forth to aid me.”
Aireon looked at Fuu and then to Apple.
Apple was smiling.
