Before she became Wari Blackthorn, she was a simple egg belonging to two dragons living in a grassy valley between several towns. However, since dragon and their eggs are considered valuable her family was targeted by poachers. Her egg was passed into the hands of a traveling dragon trader. Shortly after the transfer she, hatched and began the long and uneventful life of a merchant’s goods. She was branded with the trader’s seal and taught the little bit of the regional tongue any pet or work animal needs to know, then she was locked up to and only had her cage displayed to potential buyers. Ever the smart one though, she took the language she knew and combined it with what she didn’t to learn the meaning of other words and increase her knowledge. Soon after that she learned to unlatch her cage, but with nowhere to go it was a pointless bit of information.
No bigger than a small hawk, she was coincidently kept in a bird cage, through the bars of which she saw and heard many things about the world while on display. She learned that many dragons could use their innate magic to do many things, such as change their forms. So she began practicing during the night while the merchant was inside asleep, and quickly mastered enlarging herself. Before she got any further than that though, her life took a turn for the better.
Having outlived the trader before being sold she came into the care of his son, who didn’t like the trading of dragons. However dragons who are hatched and sold by merchants lack the necessary skills to survive on their ow, and colonies of dragons would sooner kill them out of mistrust than let them into their territories. Poachers used dragons raised and trained to sneak into colonies and steal eggs. So the remaining dragons would have to be sold.
Wari’s chance came a few days later with the appearance of a knight. A man by the name of Colin Enno Diederich II approached the traders son, more than a little displeased with the market for selling dragons. The young man managed to calm Enno’s anger somewhat by explaining his situation, at which the armor-clad human began examining the various cages to see if he was really so compassionate. He stopped at Wari’s cage for a long moment, observing her quietly as she did the same. Another young man walked up and he and Enno engaged in a short conversation on what could be done about all these dragons, ending with the suggestion that he buy one. Enno hadn’t been agreeable to the suggestion, but his friend Felix persuaded him that it would be beneficial for the dragon and the trader’s son.
After looking at the other dragons, Enno decided to purchase Wari. No sooner than they had left town, he had opened the cage to let her leave if she wanted. Instead she flew out and landed on his shoulder, marking herself as a permanent member of his party. Over time she developed an attachment to him, and, as situations called for them, began to make use of the abilities to speak and change from a small to a ride able size. Friendship gave way to attraction, and she began learning to take a human form with which she approached Enno. They became a couple, but she still sits on his shoulder while traveling because she feels closest to him there.

Wari, due to her opposing inherent elements, is a bit of an interesting person. As a light dragon she is often kind, caring, friendly, sympathetic, passive and affectionate. But since she’s also of the opposite nature, is also insistent, calculating, lacks modesty(…around Enno), and at times easy to provoke. But above all that, she is very vague. Almost always in a good mood she’s not easily angered, but when she is upset her glare could burn through steel. She’s not picky and never holds a grudge, and is quick to forgive...most ost of the time.
Wari is a friendly person often finding it easy to befriend people when they’re moving or out traveling. She loves to listen and sometimes join into good conversations, but will only give short unspecific answers to questions or comments that she doesn’t really want you to know anything about. She’s against conflict, but is quick to join a fight when someone she’s close to, especially Enno, is involved.
Background setting: Hard_Wired Fantasy
In this universe things are controlled by Stride, and Gait. Omnipotent, they run all of everything in their little corner of existence in their dimension/world/reality/etc.
They do however denote many smaller beings to help them run things. A big example would be the elementals, three beings with the control of the six 'physical' elements; Fiegunsius (Water/Ice), Bieombe (Fire/Earth), Volphgaard (Air/Thunder). The full list is nine elements; Air, Dark, Earth, Fire, Ice, Light, Non-Elemental, Thunder, Water, with Non-Elemental being the central balance to the other eight.
Elemental alignment extends to everything, even the humans and non-humans. Let's explain non-humans though. Nonhuman is a generic term to classify a being of human-level intelligence(or above) that can exist in a human form, or an animal form. So, in reality, you could be talking to a nonhuman and not realize it unless you know what to look for.
The setting is post-modern, though Stride and Gait like to reminisce on the past lives of the people they watch. The location usually centered around "The Lab". "The Lab" is the home to Hybrids; artificially created nonhumans. Derived anywhere from test-tubes to human experimentation, the eventual goal is to make all human life into nonhumans to put a definite end to the racial gap that human unconsciously make due to the fact that nonhumans are different. It sounds great, in theory, but perhaps the one presiding over "The Lab" lost their way on the moral means to this end. The lives Stride and Gait watch are also usually tied in some way, however loosely, to the Diederich family, pillars of strength.
Technology wise, the world is rebuilding with a cheat sheet. Basically the world is starting over in a sense. For example, there are cell phones, but no ocean liners. Why? Communication was desperately needed to unite the peoples of the world before trade commerce could hope to be restarted. Some areas of the world are close to the real world, but not quite, and others seem mired in an almost medieval setting due to location and lack of interest. Politics consists of mayors elected by popular vote, but there is not enough organization for anything higher, though that doesn't usually stop commerce from having an almost equal say in what goes on with a town.

As a dragon Wari is usually about the size of a small hawk or falcon, able to easily perch on Enno’s shoulder or curl around his neck. Over time she learned to change her size to about seven feet in height, easily large enough for a person to ride. Shaped like a raptor, she stands on two sturdy legs with clawed feet that allow her to pick up and grip items. Her arms are actually wings which are usually kept semi folded and hanging down to about galf of her leg length. Her teeth, though sharp, are small and set on the inside of a maw that’s more of a beak, and aren’t at all useful for more than eating. Her scales are small, smooth and soft, more like skin and therefore not very much protection for injury and the elements. A row of soft, almost feathery barbs run from the top of her head to the base of her neck, forming a crest of sorts. Her coloring is an indication of her heritage, white with black tips on her crest, beak, claws, and tail. Her eyes are cornflower blue and lack a white or visible pupil, making it difficult to see her expressions and where her gaze is fixed.
As a human, Wari stands at about 5’10”. Her skin is fairly light, though not so much as Enno, and her hair is white with black tips Her eyes remain unchanged, standing out on her face and giving it a little bit of extra personality. Her long hair is worn in a single thin ponytail or braid, usually thrown over the front of one shoulder. She fairly average as far as her build, not bulky or frail…though just a little top heavy. She dresses similarly to Enno, his clothes having been the first she’d ever worn, but her shirts are often not plain although she like blue ones because they match her eyes. Instead of boots, she wears comfortable blue walking shoes.

Wari fidgeted anxiously on her perch near the window, watching the trees being buffeted by the chill wind outside. Next to her stood an elderly woman, who was also staring out the window. They were both watching for the same thing, but for somewhat different reasons. Wari was watching for Enno because he had braved the cold he so hated to help this woman find her lost kitten, and the woman was watching for their safe return. It wasn’t a dangerous job, but it could take quite a while to locate a lost kitten in the middle of the woods. She sighed, preening under one of her wings. She had been all set to help Enno look…but he decided it was too cold and she should wait at the old lady’s house. It was taking every bit of willpower she had not to go after him, but she continued to wait. After all, Enno could handle himself out there…couldn’t he? .She mentally smacked herself. Of course he could!
A movement in the the trees caught her attention and she leaned orward to get a closer look. Enno emerged from the woods with the kitten under one arm and a slight smile on his face. She chirped loudly, swooping over to the door and waiting for it to be opened so she could greet him.
Sample post:
Where has Enno gone now? I’m a little concerned about his well-being. He’s kept so busy, and he hasn’t been eating or sleeping as much. Maybe we should take a trip to someplace quiet where he can relax. I’m sure his brothers would agree that it’s for the best. I’ll bring it up when he gets back.
But for now I should get some cleaning done so everything is presentable when he gets back. And maybe I’ll cook something for everyone, Morrison and Vin are oming by for awhile, and a good meal will make everyone more relaxed after work. Yes, I’ll go do that…but I’ll need to run to the store first. So I’d better hurry.
