I mentioned that my daughter was married last November. I know that I am not an expert on etiquette, so I allowed others, who I thought knew more, to influence my daughter in that area.
One thing that has irritated my wife and me is that our daughter has been so slow to write thank you notes for her wedding gifts. She kept telling us that she had a year to write thank you notes. It never rang true with me. We felt it was tacky to wait months and months to write thank you notes. My wife and I were married in December and she sent her thank you notes in January.
Well, she has finally started to write them. Yesterday I did something I should have done months ago. I researched the internet regarding thank you notes for weddings. No where did I find that you have a year to write thank you notes. Most sites said that if a gift is received before the wedding, a note should be sent within two weeks. If a gift is given on the wedding day or after, then a thank you note should be sent promptly. Two web sites said a note should be sent within a month and four others said within three months.
Oh well...live and learn. I wish I had done this research several months ago.
