Miles on the Warpath!

Yep people, you can smell it in the air can't you? Damn straight you can, it's time for an...

ELECTION!!!

And oh yes, I will be cracking my whip (har har, politics joke) to get you all out there with your little poll cards and do your civic duty!
Thursday 4th of May is the date for the 2006 Local Elections. Polls are open 7am to 10pm, so make sure you all have your Poll Cards for your respective constituency and tape it to your forehead so you don't forget!
A couple of points...
a) YES local elections are important. Tony Blair doesn't run the entire country, your local councils do a hell of a lot for the area where you live, and you need to make sure you get the people you want doing the things you want
b) I don't care if you haven't registered to vote in your current constituency, and you can't be bothered to go back to Watford/St Albans. Abstaining is not an option! Raaargh! Get a postal vote or get your parent(s)/sibling/dog to vote by proxy for you. Even if you don't ever intend to go back to Watford again, do it anyway.
c) Vote for whoever you like, as long as it's not the BNP. They seem to have contracted a worrying amount of support over the past few months, and due to the inherently low turnout in local elections, the BNP are set to do very well. I don't want this, I'm sure you don't want this, so do your bit and make the difference.

Best of luck with any essays/exams you have in the next few weeks/months. I'll see you all at Summer, and I'll be happy to hear all the marvellous stories you'll have about polling day. Get out there and vote people! The government thinks we (18-24yr olds) are the most apathetic demographic. Prove the bastards wrong!
Bye :D
