a conversation between dad and me and someone else today:
dad: hey, who's the japanese player on the canadian hockey team?
me: hmm, paul kariya?
dad: no, the canadian hockey team..
me: yeah, paul kariya?!?
dad: oh oh, I meant the womens hockey team
me: oh, u mean vicki sunohara?
dad: yea yea yea! she is here right now
me: heh?
dad: yeah, she is here to buy some plane tickets for their upcoming tournament
me: really?!??!?
dad: yea yea! she is right here now, you want to talk to her?
me: hmm..sure?! yeah.
her: hello
me: hmm..hi? are you really her?
her: yes haha, so I heard from your dad that you play hockey
me: yeah, I'm a winger (still didn't really believe her)
her: really? which league are u in
me: i am in the BCAHA Midget AA
her: Nice, nice, maybe one day you can tryout for our team
me: haha, yeah right, I really doubt that, you can't see me right now, but even my dad is taller then me
her: haha, size isn't that big of a factor, as long as you have the skills and the heart
(then, I was thinking, yeah right, you are so damn tall and you are already playing for the Can. team..easy for u to say)
me: hehe maybe! I have actually seen you, but you probably don't remember
her: oh? where? really?
me: of course, I went to the game @ gm place when you guys played the states.
her: ohh..hahaha yea, it was pretty packed, I probably missed you.
me: haha ya
her: well anyway, good luck to you on your hockey stuff
me: thanks. good luck at the upcoming tournament
I was quite nervous about talking to her on the fone...I am always kinda shy when it comes to hockey stars...they are just too high up there for me. I remembered the first time I talked to Steve Kariya, I almost pissed my pants..but I asked for a hug anyways, cause he is H-O-T :D but yeah..then again talking to her wasn't THAT scary since she isn't my fav. player on the team anyways :)
if she was hayley wickenheiser or cassie campbell or Dana Antal..then i would have been overly jumpy
anyways, My dad got her and a couple of other players on the team, (for those who know somethings about the Can. Women's team, they were Lori Dupuis and Jayne Hefford and one other) to sign a jersey for me :)
