Hide and seek, says the wind
In the shade of the woods;
Hide and seek, says the moon
To the hazel buds.

Hide and seek, says the cloud,
Star on to star;
Hide and seek, says the wave
At the harbour bar.

Hide and seek, say I
To myself, and step
Out of the dream of wake
Into the dream of sleep.

I'm really good at this game. You're awful at it~ ( Read more... )

Do you like sunflowers?

Sunflowers? They're...yeah, they're great. Pretty.

[clears her throat, calm voice is trying to stay that way.]

You okay? Your post is something.

It's a message. To two people.

[broken laughter]

I think they got the message.

Cryptic message. I'm glad they got it.

...You don't sound so good.

You should play music for your baby. I heard it makes them smarter.

You know, if I didn't know any better I'd say you're avoiding... Yeah, I heard that too. I'll play it for em.

Being smart is important.

They never see it coming.

Josh? Josh?

[Oh, hello deadline and static.]

Crap.

[A sweep through the cathedral didn't yield anything successful. In fact, it only made her more worried. Liz hurried along trying to think like her strange friend.]

Marco.

[She was talking to herself, at least that is what it felt like speaking into the intercom of her hand held. Maybe Joshua would answer? He did say sunflowers, right? Maybe that was something.]

[He could hear the voice, faintly, but it didn't register enough to make him open his eyes or respond. Everything hurt, but it was worth it. Letting Chrono attack him and having that stupid nun see it was just perfect.

It was just too bad he'd had to let himself get slightly mauled for it to work. Joshua just laid there, hand resting protectively over the spot he'd buried the watch. He'd had to turn it off, or she would have died while he was too injured to enjoy it, and that was no fun.]

[Xanadu was the place to look for flora. Liz tromped through the grass, flashlight handy. She was armed of course, so far there wasn't much to worry about except for a loopy friend. Possibly cursed? Hell if she knew.]

Joshua? Hey, if you can hear me say something.

[The lack of reply from the network was the most unsettling. A million reasons why that had been, and so far Liz was thinking of unpleasant ones, fixating to distract herself perhaps. There was this itching feeling that something wasn't right. Oh, hello there sunflowers. It's about time.]

[At the voice, he started to open his eyes, only to close them again. His communicator was right next to him, but the voice sounded far away. He could almost pretend it was his sister talking to him. That made him smile.]

Found you.

[His form sprawled in the greenery is illuminated by her flashlight. The red of his blood is especially bright in her vision exposed.]

Oh my God... Joshua!

[Where to start? He's so injured.]

Josh, this is Liz. I'm gonna help you.
