I'm not sure I get the joke-as it's pretty obtuse, like something I would do-but all the same I really dug the first minute. It made me think of the opening of a John Carpenter movie. Which may or may not be a very keen astute observation on your part; only the next couple of years will tell us for sure. What the hell was that music, anyway?
Some choice Facebook status updates from LiveJournal's very own shekb...
Shek says: if this was a movie, NBC's ridiculous over-description of the impregnable security would be called 'foreshadowing

And then, because I started it, I decided to add another NBA related song from my youth. In this case, the old "NBA on NBC" theme song that was actually written by John Tesh and titled "Roundball Rock":
So, essentially, it is a "joke" that is a play on Obama being introduced and perhaps because he loves basketball? Anyhow, obscure sports related jokes are usually always doomed to fail.
However, those quotes from shekb are nerdy obscure-ish jokes done right.
I saw that intro any number of times (and I certainly, for example, watched every game of the finals that season against Seattle) but I didn't remember this intro at all. Well done!
I just realized that this seems kinda snarky and shitty, like "I saw that intro and I didn't remember it so what the fuck?"
My last congratulatory sentence is meant sincerely, without snark; I trust, however, that you assumed this, since we like each other and are friends. Or at least, we were before I left that last comment, creating this new rift between us.
I actually went to bed in a huff last night after I saw your comment. I was cursing your name. You made me go to bed angry, sir. Which of course I am kidding.
I can't exactly blame people for not remembering every detail of the 90s Chicago Bulls. Not everyone religiously watched WGN almost daily in their formative years and I have to respect and admire that.
Yesterday morning while I was watching the proceedings at work, when Aretha Franklin and her FANTASTIC hat came out to sing, she started out like this:
"Myyyyy Cunt.........try 'tis of thee"
And I was like: "SHE JUST SAID MY CUNT! Aretha Franklin is hilarious!"
Then I watched the Daily Show and they made the same joke/observation and I was sad that I don't write for them again.
