Just doing the usual check-in that I feel compelled to do every few years.
I'm feeling nostalgic today. I miss the old Internet. You know, when it wasn't so geared towards smartphones and apps. It was way more fun back then. I still do "Internet-stuff", but it feels so soulless now. Maybe I'm just old. But then again, I've spent a huge chunk of my life in a VR community for the last 5 years, and that's pretty current - so I'm not obsolete just yet :)
It's comforting to know Livejournal is still around. I can never bring back those peak days from the late 90s-early 2000s though. It's interesting, I was reading on Reddit a while ago and it seems like it's not just millennials and Gen-X who are feeling this intense dissatisfaction and nostalgia. It's everyone. In the past I'd read that it happens to most people at a certain age, in the same way that time seems to pass faster as we get older. But no, the thread I was reading was inundated with comments from 14-year-olds up to, I don't know, 60 or so. The general consensus was that something feels very wrong, something "off" that we can't put our finger on. I wonder if that'll ever change. I don't think it will.
