Crap.
http://origin.mercurynews.com/news/ci_9373739 Utah Phillips has died. I don't even know what to say...I always wanted to meet him, and I think I always thought that I would get the chance. He and his ideas really effected my world view as I was growing up. When I was 15 and starting reading his words, listening to his stories, and generally learning from his perspective I realized that history (specifically, the history of our country) is not as we are taught in school.
Anyway, I just wanted to mention and mark the passing of someone whom, without having ever met me, effected the way I see the world to a very large extent.
I'd say 'rest in peace'--but he was always peaceful. Maybe I mean 'rest, for the first time, Utah, rest.'
And so goes another good man...there are so few left, it seems.
