My roomate and I bought bikes at walmart 2 weeks ago. Since then his breaks broke, he got a flat tire, and his breaks locked. Mine was fine for a while until the tire went flat due to an inherent design flaw.
I go to the bikeshop to get it repaired and they said "We don't carry those tubes because they are uncommon and cheap, walmart doesn't even carry them. We called them and told them 10 times but they don't care." So my roomate and I devised a plan. We loaded the bike in my car and took it back to walmart on tuesday to return a bike with a flat tire.
Return Lady: "Are you returning or exchanging?"
Me: "Returning"
Lady: "What's wrong with the bike?"
Me: "Oh, uh, it doesn't fit me well, its not quite my type, I'm looking around for a different one"
Lady: "Ok! Thanks!"
I was afraid they'd notice after about 30 seconds and chase me down in the parking lot. Luckily return ladies at walmart know nothing of bikes: "Boy, its a little hard to roll around".
So capitalism has failed. Walmart succeeds because it can compete in the free market by suppling a vast amount of products to a large number of people for a low price. The downfall: Quality.
Moral of the story: Do not buy ANYTHING critical to your way of life from walmart.
