Pride and Prejudice
Phate and I saw Pride and Prejudice yesterday afternoon. Damn, it was good. On one hand, they modified a bit of the dialogue to be more contemperary, but I think they did so in a perfectly acceptable way; convincing the audience that Elizabeth is outspoken requires a bit more astringency in her words. That is, the movie kept to the spirit of the book, albeit with a few minor tweaks (e.g., the timing of when Elizabeth begins to fall for Mr. Darcy).
Phate has been laughing at how much I identify with Mr. Darcy (taciturn, doesn't like talking to strangers, etc.). Except, of course, I don't have a bazillion dollars. But that's for the best.
Anyways, it makes me want to reread the book.
