The stress this fic induces is uncanny considering the entire chapter is made up of what is peaceful scenes of education and walks and amiable conversation. The narrative structure of Jason and his "alter perception" via illusion is still making me think that either Erik's a very good liar or he's pulling a Zaphod Beeblebrox.

‘It’s too easy,’ Alex muttered. ‘Someone like you don’t just drop something like that.’
I agree with Alex and thinks Charles may be a bit...blinded. At the same time, what else can he do? He's a man who must try regardless. I hope he's at least wary.

When writing this, I kept wondering how the chapters managed to get so long - nothing happens, all they do is talk!

What can I say, Charles is a trusting kind of person. I think he is a bit wary, though - he's a bit unsettled by the fact that the Brotherhood has been making enquiries about the school.

(Apparently it was too long ago I read the Hitchhiker's Guide - can't remember what Zaphod does which is relevant...)

Thankie for the comment!

Charles is also a trying sort of person, as long as there's a chance...He's always hopeful.

Zaphod locked away his own plot from himself until a relevant moment...

Ohgod...the "will you psychoanalyse me?" "no" scene...so sad and awkward lolll...I'm glad Charles actually relented.

Best WIP ever. You're armed with all this psych knowledge and it makes this so much richer! Gah! MOARRRRR ^^

It was pretty painful to write, but in a good way.

Thank you! I'm flattered - really am.

I really love the way you're writing Erik and Charles in this - they're still capable of having a healthy debate, even after all these years (where you might expect them to just fall into each other's arms and not dare to do anything to rile each other up!)

Occasionally when writing this fic, I felt that I was incapable of writing a scene with both of them in it where they did not end up having an argument. I think, though, that it's an important aspect of their relationship - they disagree on so much, and they don't just sit there and not talk about it, as you say.

Thanks for the comment!

I am enjoying this fic so much! The complications between Charles and Erik are so deep and fractured, despite all the good will (and attraction) in the world. I'm sad that Charles has backed off from so many things he enjoyed - there's no reason why he can't ride or swim - but I suppose part of that is the times, and the perception of Charles as a "cripple" rather than as a person with a disability.

I love Jason's POV, and how her power affects her as well as other people, and how very integrated it is with her life right now. Erik is right that Jason needs to see that her power isn't wrong, but at the same time Charles knows from his own abilities that getting along with other people involves controlling your interactions with them.

Thank you very much! The 60s certainly had a different way of thinking about disabilities, as you say.

Glad you like Jason's POV too!
