This is a topic I have really taken an interest in in recent months. For those of you my age, or anyone in general, I think you should watch this. It's a very good video and if more people practiced what the video taught, I think the world would be a better place.

Its a very interesting concept, and one I learned in parocial schools. However, since I've now changed alot since then and have alot more soul searching I've realized why I took myself out of the catholic scene. Unfortunately this is one of the reasons. Of course as a guy, you wouldn't see this, but this is degrading to girls at some points. "Guys, we have to start defending our girls....the woman's fertility, her body..etc". I don't know, if you aren't a woman, you really can't say this buddy, you know? I have certain views of abortion, however when it comes to contraception, that's where I think the catholic church has not caught up to the rst of the churches. Its not realistic enough to know that a woman, who is 45 years old and has finished having all the kids she wants (and can healthliy), would like to not have kids anymore, but yet still have sex with her husband. After a certain age, your cycle changes, the "natural family planning" doens't work anymore after a certain point in your age, especially when you are older going through certain changes (well woman are, not men).
Okay, I could rant all day on this. But I'm actually glad you posted it, it actually reminded me why I made the choices I made, and I thank you for that. I need something more open minded (obviously). Its so unfortunate that the catholic church is one of the fastest "shrinking" churches right now. In my area, and so many others in new england. We are down to 3 priests for 7 (9 during the summer) churches. When about 10 years ago it was 3 priests per church. They are closing the churches left and right, its so sad. These are gorgeous buildings being closed forever. Its sad that people who still practice are forced to travel 40 minutes to a nearby community to just hear a mass on teh weekend when it used to be down the road.

Anyway, sorry about the long comment. I just get pretty heated on the church discussions :) I'm glad you are where you are though. Knowing what you want and need. The catholic church is a great church for some people. (just not for me!). Good luck with your quest. PS> How's it going with that girl?
