I was going to give you some of my pansies anyway, maybe you can come to the greenhouse to pick some out, and we can look at the other plants while you're there!

"Sun shields"?

Reply

apocalypticals May 9 2011, 21:40:08 UTC
they have handles
and are made of fabric
and you hold them up to keep the sun off you!
sollux said humans have a word for it

i think it was "umbrella"?

always_on_duty May 9 2011, 21:41:21 UTC
Oh, those! No, umbrellas are for rain. The ones for the sun are called parasols.

oh
so you differentiate for different types of weather
is there one for snow too

always_on_duty May 10 2011, 00:56:17 UTC
I think you'd just use an umbrella for snow.

apocalypticals May 10 2011, 01:17:59 UTC
i think i get it
well anyway
we have a few parasols
so i should be able to use one

Have you ever been to the greenhouse before?

Reply

apocalypticals May 10 2011, 05:59:16 UTC
yes!
a few times
my friend sam showed me
he was teaching me about grain
we were hoping to grow some in the city
but then he left

Oh, good, then you know where it is!

I know about plants, I can pick up where he left off. [Just don't expect him to be able to tell one plant from another. Or really know anything other than how to keep it alive, he's a gardener, not a botanist.]
