As for the reason I'm writing this entry: for Christmas from that giant statue they had, I was given a pair of diamond earrings. [He was a little peeved that was his gift.] They seem to be real diamonds, too, but they really wouldn't do me any good

Yes, it is possible for anyone to learn magic by contacting the Filial spirits here. I have only contacted Nala myself thus far, but my progress on the other spirits have been hindered by various circumstances.

Various circumstances? Sorry if I'm being a little too nosy. I want to try contacting the spirits myself some time, but it really just depends on when.

Circumstances such as the Malnosso experiments, or the recent draft, or other incidents that may happen around the village. I dedicate myself to helping others, so I seldom have time for myself.

I have found that generosity benefits you more than it benefits those you reach out to.

To contact Nala, I had just listened for her. The Filail spirits communicate with feelings rather than voices. I could sense her presence when she filled me with eagerness and kindness.

I would recommend Nala as the first spirit to contact. She is very friendly, and rather easy to contact for novices of Filial magic.

The spirits are also more likely to reach out to those who share an affinity with their respective element.

Hm, I don't believe I have an element. Or not one that I know of. I suppose I'll have to figure that out as I go along.

Perhaps you could, though it is not necessary. Anyone can contact any of the spirits if they put forth the effort.

I just think it'd be very interesting to find out what element I am connected with. It's not knowledge that is very available in my world.
