I shipped my Chaco Z/2 sandals back to Chaco to be re-soled yesterday. I'm pretty excited since I haven't worn them in almost a year, due to having worn all the way through the soles in both sandals. I bought them in 2003 and I've taken them everywhere - Alaska, Peru, London, Paris, and all over Michigan's state parks - so I'm pretty attached to them.
The re-sole costs $36, but you get a $5 discount from using their online return form. Then it's $7 to ship them and another $7 for them to be returned. This comes out to $45. A new pair would be $90, so it's a fairly good deal in addition to being less wasteful. All my straps and the footbed are in good condition.
For anyone who has never worn a pair of Chacos, you don't know what you're missing. The arch support is phenomenal, and the pull-through strap system helps you get a perfect fit. They were definitely worth the price the first time around, especially since I bought them in 2003 and they lasted for 3 years of almost constant wear.
