[rp] there's a fire inside this heart and a riot about to explode into flames...

It had been just over a week since his middle of the night drunken text, and following conversation with Felicity, and Aaron had been a mess ever since. All he had been able to think about was her and the things she had said. They were all the same, but for some reason they were bothering him in a way they never had before ( Read more... )

"Mommy, there's someone on the front porch."

Michael was standing on the couch, bouncing on one foot while Felicity tried to tie the soccer cleat with the other. They were going to be late for practice if they didn't leave soon, but Michael wouldn't sit still. She knew he was excited, but the kid had too much energy. She finished tying the cleat, before grabbing him by the legs and yanking him gently so that he landed with a plop on the couch. He giggled at the sensation, long hair falling in front of his face, before looking up at her with a wide grin.

"Oh really? Do you know who it is?"

"Nope. He's reeeeeeeeeally tall though."

"Really?" she said softly, before starting to slip on the other shoe. "What else did you notice about him?"

"He's got brown hair, like me! And he's got a bag with him.""A bag, huh?" She finished tying the shoe, before getting up and going to the window. What she saw there made her heart stop in her chest. Of all the times that he chose to show up, she hadn't expected it to be here and now. She ( ... )

Aaron watched Felicity open the door and just stared at her for a bit. God, she was hot. His head shook a bit and his hand came up to shove his bangs off his face.

"I don't know," he shrugged, his voice quiet and honest. "I just...came."

She didn't know what to do with this. For him to just suddenly appear out of nowhere was startling, if nothing else. She tried to figure out what to say to him, but the fact that he was here, standing in front of her, was ... something, wasn't it?

She took a breath, before taking a step to the side. "I ... I have to take Michael to soccer practice. But ... you can stay here, while I drop him off? And when I get back ... we can talk."

And she meant talk talk, Aaron, because while she's gone she's going to be calling her brother-in-law to figure out what the hell was going on.

The idea of being face to face with Michael terrified Aaron, and it was written all over his face. He looked down and scuffed his feet a bit.

"I can...just go to a hotel or something. Wait."

Felicity wasn't favoring Aaron's comfort zone at the moment. She looked up at him before shaking her head. "Don't be ridiculous. You can stay here. I'll only be gone five minutes."

Michael chose that particular moment to come running out of his room, soccer ball in hand. "I'm ready, I'm ready, let's go!" He skidded to a stop next to his mother, before looking up at Aaron with wide eyes. "Whoa. You're REALLY tall."

"Michael, this is a friend of Mommy's from New Jersey. Go wait in the car. I'll be there in a second."

"Okay." And with that he zipped past Aaron out to the car.

Aaron froze again when he saw Michael, and when Michael went passed he turned and watched him run off. He didn't even hear Felicity, he was just watching Michael. His face wasn't showing whether it was in fear or awe, but it was a good mix of both, mixed in with....something indescribable.

She watched Aaron as Michael headed out to the car, a small smile crossing her face. She moved closer, before placing a hand on his arm gently, calling his attention back to her.

"You can come, if you want? Or you can stay here and wait. It's up to you."

He turned back to her and shook his head. "I'll wait here," he said. He couldn't really come up with anything else to say, not even any usual sexual remark. He was so very out of his element.

"Okay," she nodded. "There's some food in in the fridge if you're hungry, but I shouldn't be very long." She rubbed his arm lightly. "Just make yourself at home."

"Yeah," he said quietly. "Sure." He stepped past her, unsure if he really wanted her to touch him right then. There was still too much going through him and it was easier not adding in the feeling of her hand on him.

She closed the door behind him, before heading out to her car and climbing in the driver's seat. She checked to make sure Michael was strapped in well, then turned to face the steering wheel. She took a breath, before reaching for her bluetooth and dialing her brother-in-law's number, then starting the car.

"Mommy, who're you calling?"

"Uncle Jake," she said with a soft smile. "Just want to check up on him."

Jake was just getting off of work at the hospital and driving home when he saw Felicity's number pop up on his caller ID. He smiled and put his earpiece on, before clicking the call on.

"Hey, Liss."

"Hey, Jake," she said softly as she drove over to the park where there soccer practice was held. "Have you heard from Aaron lately?"

That wasn't what he wanted to hear. Of course he immediately thought the worst. "What happened?" He ran his hand over his jaw. "I saw him a couple days ago and he was...we talked a bit...what'd he do?"

"He flew out and showed up at my front door," she replied. "Or I'm assuming he flew. I didn't see his bike around."

That nearly made Jake crash. He slammed his brakes when it took him a moment too long to realize the car in front of him was stopped. He also let out a few choice words that he never said anymore, as he was used to having the kids around.

"He what?"
