Mike's New Job

Jul 28, 2005 07:47

Just thought I'd let those who care know about how my new job is going (even brag a little :D).

Aside from having a job at Walgreens, I now work for Lifetouch National School Studios as a photographer. I will most likely also being doing some of the technical/design stuff such as creating ID cards for the school and other things along those lines. For that aspect I would be working with an established veteran of 9 years, Joe (aka "Tech Boy").

Things have been going very well. We've been quized both days on the things we've learned, and I was the only one able to answer a particular question on each day, and was awarded a prize! Day 1 I picked this really nice stand up picture frame; day 2 I took a mug for my tea that is white and says "Life Touch" on either side.

I'm also getting along pretty well with everyone. I'm one of 3 guys out of 20 or so new recruits. One of the guys, though, Ian, is pretty cool. He said he'll let me borrow his Canon Digital Rebel to get a feel for the camera to help me make a buying decision, which is fucking fantastic!

To make it even better thus far, the photography manager called Ian and myself over and told us that we're doing very well and seem to be catching on very fast. She offered us the oppertunity to go to a school today to see first hand how it's done, and even start taking pictures! Holy crap, it's only been 2 days! That is awesome!

All in all, I'm very pleased so far. Heather, the photography manager, told me they were going to try to get me as many hours as possible because I'm rather limited with my current school schedule. So, today I'm working from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM. But I'm not worried about it really; it should be a killer day!

That wraps it up for now. Later everyone!
