I finally took the D800 and 28mm f1.8G lens out for some test shots. Tracee and I went to the 62nd annual Fireman's BBQ in Paradise Valley, NV. From there we went exploring on the road to Hinkey Summit. It was hot and windy, but the scenery is beautiful.
The pavement turns to dirt and gravel a few miles from town.
This is looking back on the road, about halfway up the mountain. It takes a number of twists and turns with several switchbacks.
The rocks jutting from the hillsides are stunning and colorful.
Wildflowers are in bloom to the delight of the local bees. The above shot is not the original, but a resized (as are the others) version for uploading. This is 1000 pixels wide, whereas the original is 7920 pixels wide.
This is 100% crop from the original image. The 28mm lens is wonderful in sharpness and color.
