So it's going to be common things such as the widespread culture beliefs about Nazis/totalitarianism, and widespread cultural beliefs about nuclear war? Can the Nazis get nuked at least?

I don't think so? I don't remember.

See, I just keep picturing Computer Program You being all "I have shut down all needs and automatic emotional responses, and am able to only feel if I've decided to do so. I have intellectually concluded that this is awesome!"

...would a weird fascist post-Singularity hell be one where people couldn't reprogram themselves, but were reprogrammed by fascists? And would the fascist make enemies, or merely more happy followers who would endlessly conform? If people were uploaded into computers, they could either be instantly either reprogrammed to conform to fascist ideals or simply eliminated, and so you'd get horrifying things happening, but to make people endure lingering suffering, they'd have to actively choose inefficient methods. Which they might do, but I suspect that would require too much of a self-aware choice in comparison to simply killing people.

That would be nice but - anyway I need to print out my outline and tidy it up because I've had a couple of breakthroughs! And then I can get back to the nittygritty.

IDK but I feel like someone would find a way to fuck up the Singularity and make it horrible because PEOPLE ARE LIKE THAT.
