Poetry

Fresh stigmata

Poetry usually happens - and less frequently now because of these criteria - because a phrase and a feeling collide. The phrase can pretty much set up the entire poem, but the whole thing won't work unless there's a feeling which, generally speaking, doesn't suit me to express in normal spoken prose, or which I'm not comfortable with expressing. So, you know, shit like "I love you", "I miss you", "I wish you weren't dead", "I feel a lot of sympathy for your situation and care a great deal and wish I could do something but I am effectively an emotional black hole so this is all I can do", "Sex thoughts/I like your butt", "Gratitude", and this particular one where I'm not sure what the right word is, thus making it basically imperative that it poem rather anything else.
