Today I finished early enough that I still had the brainpower to go and ask for a new library card, which took seven minutes and cost two whole British pounds. Boom! Library card. I may build on the success of this by going to apply for a reader's card at the British Library (I used to have one but never used it) and a library card at the Wellcome History of Medicine Library (ditto). BOOM. LIBRARY. CARDS.
(I am becoming very fond of my local library. It has a display on banned publications, and there's a cafe upstairs by the reference library that is manned by a pirate).

Also thinking about what to do about Tame, and I think the answer is "start again at the beginning with a proper plan" because there are at least three subplots that need sketching out, and I need to make sure that everything is period-appropriate, and now I definitely know I have the character voices down the second draft shouldn't be so hard, and I can probably salvage a lot of the actual scenes from the first draft. THINKING OUT LOUD: HOW TO BORE TO DEATH THE FEW REMAINING LOYAL READERS. dun dun dun.
