Are people assuming fandom is their personal therapy group again? Because if I wanted to spend all of my time being extremely gentle with people who display only the most rudimentary signs of artistic talent and personal maturity, ensuring all criticism was in the most gentle language imaginable, and constantly reassuring them that the fact they bothered to try at all is wonderful, I'd be a preschool teacher. Because four-year-olds tend to be cute, and you can hope they'll eventually grow out of it.

More that they're suffering from a bad case of Geek Social Fallacy #1: Ostracisers Are Bad, but transferred to writing. Apparently you can't think things suck any more or refuse to read them, which is bad news for me and my unreasonably high standards and stroppy entitlement complex. :D

So you're now morally obligated to like everything written in the fandom? That's now how liking things works!

We're morally obliged to never mention that we dislike anything. Which rather cuts down the amount of talking I do since about 98% of it is "I HATE THIS THING".

Gah. This is why I hate things which only exist online.... I can't take them gently to one side and throw them in a canal.

At least I can limp away from people if they annoy me in the real world, without missing out on the interesting stuff in the process.

Ah. So the options are "This is awesome!" or complete silence? Anyone who thinks "I'm bored by the incessant domestic fluff!" makes me a terrible person or That Mean Girl From High School can fuck right off.
