From discussion:
Okay my theory is this. Arthur and Eames split up for legit reasons relating to Eames feeling utterly stifled, and Eames actually went AWOL for about six months while Arthur was busy doing training work for military cadets and so on. Eames returns, immediately takes on Ariadne, no word of where he's been or what he was doing. Arthur is still FURIOUS with him for breaking up and for abandoning the business, but he's trying to keep a lid on it and be professional because "being professional" and "being good at his job" are the two main things that define him to himself. Meanwhile, Eames is smitten with Ariadne but convinced he shouldn't pursue it and that she wouldn't take him seriously and feels guilt-stricken and pissy about it so he's taking it out on Arthur, because Arthur is an acceptable target.
poor Ariadne needs to pull her head out of her ass and realise that a) she likes Eames b) it is okay for her to like Eames and c) wanting to punch him and make him cry is part of liking Eames and d) it is okay to want to make him cry.
From research and speculation
Ariadne is a counter-puncher, ambidextrous. bantamweight, possibly lighter. She attends a fictional college because I am too lazy to look up anything about the actual colleges in New York.
Her taste in music - as I was asked - tends to vary on circumstances. For general life and working on assignments she enjoys vaguely hipsterish noises and enjoys Róisín Murphy; for working out she prefers repetitive, thudding dance music or classical music with a marching beat; and when she's drunk she usually ends up singing along loudly and badly to horrific stadium ballads.
