Yesterday I tried to take into consideration some of the things I've been
reading about on my run... I tried to keep my elbows low (a challenge), and
I ran in intervals. I wound up running/walking a total of 2 miles... I
probably could have done more, but I didn't want to overdo it.
Post run was the most refreshed I've been after a run in a while. I really
did have a lot more energy afterwards. It really made me a fan of
intervals. I'm trying to increase my distance, and I think this is the best
way to do it (from what I've read).
I also did 50? crunches and 15 girlie-ups. I probably could have done 20,
but I didn't want my arms to be sore for kickball today. Oh, and before my
run I incorporated a little more stretching. I need to read up on the exact
stretches I should be doing, I think I forgot a couple.
My biggest issue lies in the tension in my shoulders. This has ALWAYS been
a problem for me, from piano, to choir, to running. It's like there is a
tightened coil between my two shoulders - they are forever bunching up. I
think I'm going to look into some stretches/yoga that'll help with this.
