I had a feel good day at work today.
Backstory: Last week a couple came in that was one of those "I need this and that and the other thing" every time you pass the table kind of customers. This is ok, if you don't have many tables and I had maybe one other. I accidentally forgot their salad bar plates until I brought out their main dinner and they decided not to have salad bar so I had to take it off the ticket. I keep thinking that they are gonna leave me no tip since they are so picky. At the end of the meal, the man says "I'd like to tell you something" I braced myself for a telling off or some other kind of bitchery. He says "We come in here all the time and we've had just about every waitress in here at some point or another, and you are BY FAR the BEST! You deserve more money than any other waitress in here!" I was QUITE taken aback. Then they left me a $5 tip (What do they leave crappy waitresses?)
Fast forward to today: Same couple comes in and ASKS for my section. Got put in the wrong section and moved to my section when they saw me and saw what section I was working. (Bitched about that alot) I get them settled (REMEMBERED the salad plates!!!) and got everything they wanted etc... they RAVED about how good of a server I was and asked to speak to my Shiftleader (Whom they raved about me to) AND asked to speak to the manager and told him I was the best server they had ever had there and I should get a raise. I don't think I've treated them any differently than any other table I've ever had except that now that I know them, I know what they want before they have to ask for it (YAY for anticipating needs!!!). Wow, that is craziness!!
As I was cashing out with my manager tonight. I was telling him how crazy that was and how I thought that at first they were teasing me. He said that he has heard ALOT of good things about me from SEVERAL customers and has heard nothing but good things about me. WOW. I'm TOTALLY shocked!!
So if your in my neck of the woods and hungry for BBQ (With good service, apparently) Come to Sonny's and ask for my section. Hey, Our slogan is "We're gonna make you feel good! Really good!" (Not that way you pervs)
P.S. Said table tonight, I reminded them of the $5 off coupon on the bottom of the receipt for their next purchase of $25 or more and they remembered that they had their receipt from last time and used it. They gave me the $5 they saved AND the $5 they were gonna give me. $10 tip on $20 meal is not bad at all.
When you make $32 in tips for only about 4 hours work and your only taking 4 tables at a time, is pretty damn good (I'm still "technically" in training for a few more shifts before they cut the strings and let me fly.)
