Many days to cover so many things to say.
The Chicago Run - Going was okay except the car smelled like smoke. Me and Kreiner sprayed the thing with an entire bottle of Fabrezze. Trip was almost nine hours. Mercifully, Amy slept most of the way and traffic was not bad. We got off at the wrong exit but I guided us in anyway. Not bad for my second trip into town I thought. We checked in and I needed to get some food so I went to Millers Pub. I love it when service takes 15 minutes for a refill and a check. I got back to the hotel at about 2am. Started to write Elina a letter then went to bed. Next morning it was breakfast at Beef and Brandy, steak and eggs at 8:30 was a trip. After that I killed hours in the Art Institute of Chicago. The new digital was perfect and the shots we so good. At about 1:30 I caught a quick lunch at Giordano’s and then I hit Tower Records. For dinner we went to the Burghoff and it was good too! Next two days I did conference stuff and for the most part it was cool. But on the trip back it was all Amy bitching. She didn’t like the Smashing Pumpkins while studying and all. She didn’t study much, just stayed on her stupid cell phone. The dinner hurt her and it was stops all the way home for her. Her dad called and over that me and Kreiner got yelled at. After we ditched her Kreiner said I was kinda cool to hang with. It’s good when your professors like to hang with you. Overall a good trip, Amy killed the great possibility it had!
Monday - Grandma was over so I ditched the home for as long as possible. I went by and saw some former professors, I was treated like the returning hero. I loved those people and it was great to get a chance to say goodbye. Ran into an old pal and since it was $5 pizza night at Fitters we hit it. He had a couple of tall boys and we just bs’ed for over an hour. Great times like these I shall miss in St. Louis, but I will make pals there too. Politics, life, love and all the things that make life worth living were discussed. Bars are quite fun if not smoke filled and full of drunks. If all are mellow it is a pleasant experience.
Wednesday - Our lunch was disrupted with accusations of half of our party not paying their bill for lunch Monday. We were confronted twice and by the end another professor and I were “cleared.” The other one was being treated rudely and our fourth from Monday was not with us. After two rounds over this at the same meal we decided never to return. I know no one in our party stiffed the Chinese restaurant (it is named King Chief Buffet BTW!). Those idiots lost $6.29 a meal per person (4 normally) and between 2 and 4 times a week we frequented.
Today - I went back to campus and hung with some professors and said goodbye to a few more. As I walked across campus I realized what a nice looking campus it was. It was about 90 today ant the entire place was lush, green, and beautiful. I trade this for a better tomorrow but still nice to remember what has gone. I had a moment today when I just realized so many truths. On-line is fun but most people there are not real to me. I used to worry about it and now I am apathetic, I see all these people around me I’ll miss and I realized how much more important reality is than online. I went back to my former board and I realized I no longer care. Just a group of faceless people with their own opinions and ideas. I returned for the few that I still care about but I realized how pointless it seems now. So much more to life than the internet. I’m gonna go back to it now.
