Community announcement

I started a community: millparklife. As of December 1st, there will be daily updates, with information and photographs of local wildlife in my area. Like urbpan, a species a day. I figure it will encourage me to a) get outside more often, and b) organise my photographs a lot better (I take enough photos of local wildlife anyway) and c) actually learn about the things that live in my area.

Figured I'd make it into a community because a) I can post there without having to log out and then in again, and b) I won't annoy all the people on my Flist who don't share my enthusiasm about animals or Australiana.

Today, while out for a walk: I saw a young raven which had fallen from its nest and was walking around. Its parents were cawing to it, and it was squawking back to them. The day before? I saw a young cockatoo walking around near Plenty Road. See? I've lived here for nearly five years, and this shit still amazes and fascinates me. I don't think I'm ever going to get over it. And I'm fascinated with, and ADORE urbpan's journal (go have a look, it is THE coolest idea ever) and figured, "Why not do an Australian version?" (Hey, we have some kickarse wildlife out here, I've always said that... Might as well celebrate some of the good about here rather than just bitching about what sucks.)
