When one was a creature that had been genetically built for speed and the ability to manipulate space and time at will, it was a little disconcerting to have something happen so fast that even given those talents, nothing could be done. Shadow cursed as the nature of the impact sank in - he hadn't been anywhere near the affected rooms, had in fact been running on the track, but the sound and the shock of it was jarring, as was the abrupt lack of air soon after. He could survive that, thanks to his alien half, but he would have saved the others, if only he'd had a chance to react. At a loss, he sprinted for the impact site, and stared at the damage that had been done, knowing it was already too late for anyone else.

And then somehow he was back on the track. "What the hell...?" he muttered, as he narrowed his eyes and looked around in confusion. He'd seen some strange things in the past few years, but nothing quite like this. There had to be an answer, and he intended to find it. Rather than wasting another moment, he dashed back into the main area of the colony, hoping to find someone - anyone - who had just gone through the same thing he had.
