Amnesia AU Discussion - Death and Characters
[[WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE AMNESIA GAMES - READ WITH CAUTION. But I seriously need some second opinions on this. IT'S ALSO KINDA LONG AT RANT-ISH]]
As I was watching videos of the endings for Amnesia and listening to a beautiful piano cover of Daniel's theme the other day, my mind drifted over to my ever-so-favorite RP muse (And this is where everything went to hell).
About Death:
Let's look at a few big points for the game. Point one - Daniel killed a lot of people. True, this was because it was distracting the Shadow while Daniel and Alexander tried to control the power of the orb. He even killed a child to complete this task(?).
Now put that factor in with Arthur's situation, and the rules of HQ. You can't kill another character unless you have the mun's consent, plus everything played out in the DR has to remain PG-13. Both problems are easily solved, heck, the characters can even be brought back after dying. But he's killed a LOT of people in his world. And he's also capable of snapping and hurting people here in the DR. I'm not saying 'O hey can you guys sign this list of characters you'll let my mentally unstable Brit slaughter?', I just don't know if I'll even play out this factor because there's so much blood involved. Yet at the same time I feel like I'm leaving out a big part of this muses universe.
(The Shadow also can't get into the HQ and/or stay in it for very long, anyway. It might not even be after him anymore since he's not in his world. *GASP*)
Point two - In three of the four possible endings in The Dark Descent, Daniel dies. If you toss Agrippa's head in the portal, Alexander dies but the Shadow kills you (Okay it's kind of hard to tell what happens after that. It looks like you're saved, but at the same time you're killed by the shadow). If you do nothing while Alexander goes through the portal, or don't get out of the dungeon after the gatherer abduction, the Shadow kills you. The only time you don't die is when you disrupt the portal ritual and kill Alexander in the revenge ending.
In my eyes, this gives me three (maybe even more) different opportunities to kill Arthur. Yes, I love this muse so much that I'm willing to have him die multiple times. I can bring him back after time, and god knows I would, too. There's no real problems with this, except probably the setup of the actual death roleplay. Also, it might be a little too early to consider killing him off just yet. But in time, I would like to see this happen.
These are the biggest things going through my head right now - If you have any opinions or suggestions, please leave me feedback.
About Characters:
We've already got the two recasted main focus characters running around the DR, Arthur as Daniel and Gilbert as Alexander. Grunts and Brutes are the same as they are in the Amnesia game. But then I was thinking - What about Agrippa? He doesn't come into play until the later half of the game, yes, but is it just enough to give him a Hetalia recasting? And even then, who would make the best Agrippa? How would someone play an immovable, lower jaw-less character that somehow manages to speak epic-length, mostly one sided conversations?
Also note that a nyotalia!Sealand would be Daniel's little sister Hazel in this universe. Not expecting her to appear anytime soon, but... Y'know. Arthur might mention her from now on.
AND. If we look at the expansion, Amnesia: Justine, there is another possible character to be introduced into the DR - fem!France as the namesake herself, Justine. I would love for someone to play this character. Daniel wrote a letter to Justine's father once, but whether or not they've actually met each other in person is never really explained, though it seems highly unlikely in my opinion. Wouldn't it be great, and interesting, to see their recasts finally meet in the HQ?
If playing Justine!France isn't good enough, maybe you'd be interested in play one of her Suitors? (Pre-Torture of course - maybe the magic of HQ restored their abused bodies?) Since France is pretty much a fandom Bicycle, these Suitors can be pretty much anyone. Arthur!Mun would personally like to see an Austria or Russia as Malo. As for Basile and Alois, I'm open to anyone.
