the sword is a warrior's soul...

The Spanish Empire was just wearing his tight trousers and his knee high boots today, his bare chest glistened with sweat as he was fencing against a invisible opponent with fierce fury. He missed the seas, missed his old life and really needed a distraction. The light weight of his épée within his right hand was a welcome feeling and his green ( Read more... )

Well, this was rather interesting. Alice stood off to the side a bit, just watching him. She noticed the color of his eyes. Was this Spain? It had been a long time since she had seen the other nation, and she certainly wasn't used to seeing Spain as a male. It had been a long time since she had used a blade.

It almost made her want to find one of her own, but she doubted that the other nation would fight her. She knew that it was different if she was fighting the female Spain, after all, they were both women.

So she settled for just watching him for now. She didn't want to disrupt his training.

(OOC: Seeing this reminded me of this image.

The Spanish Empire didn't realize someone was watching his exercise, as he was much too concentrated on his movements and on the épée within his hands. He loved the feeling of the well known weight within his hands and he realized just how much he missed it to fight, to conquer!
Eventually Antonio stopped and bowed slightly to his invisible opponent. His scarred chest heaved under his fastened breath and he wiped off some sweat from his forehead with the back of the hand. It was then, that he realized the woman watching him... The Spaniard winced startled and stared at her. Had she been watching him the whole time? Antonio blushed ever so slightly and cleared his throat.
"Excuse me, Señorita?", he addressed her, slightly puzzled - her face was somehow familiar to him, but he couldn't quite point out why.

His words brought her out of her thoughts. She blushed lightly and turned away a bit. "My apologies. I just stumbled upon you training. I didn't mean to stare."

If her face seemed familiar then her accent would really give her away as England. She had a classic British accent and she couldn't get rid of it. She remembered fighting over the seas with her own Spain. It took hard work to be able to become a privateer captain and get the respect of her crew.

Antonio couldn't help but frown slightly at her words and he took one or two steps towards her, tilting his head curiously to the side. Not too old scars were clearly visible on his tanned chest, that was still glistening with sweat from his exercise.
"The British Empire?", he asked carefully, not wanting to upset a lady after all. But the similarities - especially considering the accent - where just blatantly obvious! The Spanish Empire couldn't help but stare at her as he had never seen his arch enemy as a woman!

"Well, yes. I am," she said. Of course that was years ago. She hadn't been called that in a long time. Still, she couldn't help but notice the scars on his chest. Her male version must have given those to him.

"You must be Spain," she said. His words, the way he looked, and those eyes of his were a giveaway.

The Spanish Empire felt a grin emerging on his lips as she confirmed his suspicion, inclining his head slightly to the side in a curious motion his emerald eyes continued to watch her.
"Sí, indeed. Antonio Fernandez Carriedo. The Spanish Empire.", he replied rather cheerfully and continued to grin. "I've never met you as a... well, woman.", the Spaniard confessed eventually, slightly shaking his head. He surely had had his quarrels and discrepancies with the British Empire and he was indeed still mad at him for drowning his precious Armada just some months ago - but he knew not every England around here was his and especially not that woman with those piercing green eyes in front of him.

"And I'm not used to seeing you as a man. The Spain I know and fought was a woman. It was interesting, those times on the sea. For me it's been a long time since the years that I was known as the British Empire," she admitted. She wouldn't admit that this Spain was far better looking than the one that she knew.

"I've been here for a while now and I'm still not quite used to this place," she said, flicking a pigtail over her shoulder.

A look of wanderlust and yearning was suddenly evident in his emerald eyes as she spoke of the sea. He missed his ships and he missed the strong winds, the salt on his lips, the adventures and the delivering feeling of conquests. A heavy sigh passed the Spanish Empire's lips and he put his épée back into it's sheath, running a hand through his messy brown hair.
"Not just interesting...", the man muttered under his breath and eventually a smile returned onto his lips. "I really can't imagine myself as a woman.", Antonio replied honestly and couldn't help but frown at the image... No, he liked being a man - thank you very much!
"Excuse me, I'm not that up to date with what happened after 1588... but... you're not an Empire anymore?", the Spaniard asked with obvious astonishment, yet he couldn't help the slightly mocking tone in his voice as he grinned at her. The Empire shrugged his broad shoulders. "And well,I got used to this place... But I can't get used to be trapped in here.", the Spaniard grimaced slightly.
