It's hard to get alone time, now; the walls need to be watched, the daily chores have to be done, and the patrolling has turned up a remarkable lack of arrivals, which to some means it needs to be done more often. (Krauser, naturally, suspects this has less to do with the natural rhythms of the world that brought them here, and more to do with some threat out there eating people.) And then there's looking for sparring partners to practice control with.

But he managed to steal some hours just to think, and now Krauser's busy outside, sorting through a bag of scrap metal, selecting the cleanest and flattest pieces. That's when he isn't coming in to check 202 and the engineer's hideout for other things he needs.
