Albrecht's in 202, waiting for his patrol shift to come up. Which would be...about three or four hours from now.

Sigh.

So he's just sitting there, trying to read a magazine (chinese is one of the few major languages he has trouble with).

Bug him?

"I want to talk to you."

In the doorway, one very conflicted looking elf boy is standing with crossed arms and an expression struggling between murderous and sheepish.

Albrecht just sort of grumbles a bit as he's reading before he looks up at the kid.

"What?"

[kokiriboy]

"I've been avoiding you, you know. Of course you know that." Link lets his fists fall to his sides.

"I-I was taking care of myself, all right? I didn't need you. I don't. Need you. You dragged me off and humiliated me and I didn't even have my sword. I couldn't-” Link bites his lips and glares.

[wolfbitharder]

To be honest, Albrecht hadn't even really noticed the kid had been avoiding him.

"Your point? You were sick, and you were too stubborn to go get help."

[kokiriboy]

Link hadn't noticed that Albrecht hadn't noticed. How very awkward.

"I didn't need help. That's what I'm trying to tell you. I was being stubborn because it was a waste of everyone's time."

[wolfbitharder]

"Are you stupid or something? What if you had something really bad? Then other people would get sick, and it'd be your fault. Because you were too damn stubborn to get it checked out. You really think I'm gonna just let you start some kinda fuckin' epidemic."

[kokiriboy]

"Maybe I am stupid, but I didn't have something really bad, or didn't you notice? And I didn't make anyone else sick. So I'm stupid, sure, but I was right this time."

[wolfbitharder]

"But you could have. How was anyone supposed to know what you had until you got checked out. In a situation like this, you don't just take risks like that. You may be some big hero back where you're from, but here, you just seem to be a bratty little kid who doesn't know what's good for him."

[kokiriboy]

Link cocks his head to the side and smiles flatly.

"I've been taking care of myself since I could walk. I knew what I was doing."

[wolfbitharder]

"This is different, genius. You're in a completely different world, and things work differently here."

Then he sighs an aggravated sigh.

"And I have no fucking clue why I should have to explain myself to a kid."

[kokiriboy]

Link's smile vanishes and it's back to Scowl-town.

"Why? Why am I stupid and useless and not even worth considering just because I'm a kid? And you know what, if I am, and maybe I am, why don't you explain things so I'm less stupid? Isn't that what you want?"

[wolfbitharder]

"Didn't say you were useless. You just don't know how to work with other people. If you're going to stay here, you should at least try and learn how to do that. It's childish to think you can do everything by yourself."

[kokiriboy]

"What do I do, then? It doesn't make any sense. Everyone just weighs each other down and holds each other back. You've got a vampire living here and they're your enemies, and it's just because a few people like him. Why do you think that's better?"

[wolfbitharder]

"You see? That's a naive point of view. Angel's fine, I checked him out myself. Not all vampires are evil. And you really think you can help people by running around by yourself? There are people here who are far stronger than you and they can't even protect everyone here by themselves. I doubt you could do better."

[kokiriboy]

Link has, unknowing, adopted a slightly pleading expression. He's not just being a brat.

"Running around by myself is what I do. It's the only thing I'm good at. I've never done anything else worth anybody's time and now I'm not supposed to?"

[wolfbitharder]

"Look kid, it's just...it doesn't work here. Things aren't the same here as they are in any of our homes. We've all had to adapt."
