Daffodil doesn't sulk - but she does get bored. After all, she's an active eleven-year-old who can't let her feet touch the ground. That's really not helpful

She's amused, Link's confused. He just came outside to read, but no. Crazy girls trying to walk on their hands. He watches her with his head tilted to the side for a while.

"...Hello," he eventually says "Do you want some help?"

Daffodil thinks about shaking her head, but comes to the (sensible) conclusion that she'd only fall over.

"No, thank you. I'm just playing. Can you walk on your hands?"

"Not really," Link shrugs "I just fall over. Kinda like you." He kneels and sets his book down - it's a reading primer, if Daffodil would notice something like that.

"That's the fun, though. Getting better."

She drops her feet down onto the footrest of her chair, and sits.

"What are you reading?" Daffodil likes books.

[kokiriboy]

"Oh, I'm not, well, uh," Link runs a hand through his bangs "I'm not reallyreading it, I'm just learning. But I'm not stupid, it's just that everything is in another language and I don't know it yet. It's not a big deal, though."

Link likes being defensive.

Daffodil nods.

"I'm just learning chinese too. It's pretty, but so difficult. Lots of us have to learn - we should all help each other, it'd be much more fun."

Defensive, what? She didn't notice.

[kokiriboy]

Hey, then they'll get along like a house on fire.

"I guess, yeah. So, I forgot, I'm Link. And you are?" He smiles awkwardly and extends his hand.

[fertilefootfall]

She extends her hand, pauses, then remembers he's probably going to shake it, not kiss it.

"Daffodil. Hello!"

Link does shake her hand.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Daffodil."

[fertilefootfall]

"How long have you been here?" She tilts her head at him curiously. "I guess I don't get out much, but I haven't seen you before."

[kokiriboy]

"Just a few weeks, and I've been in the infirmary for a lot of that. Or sitting in my room. Or going exploring. Hunting vampires. Y'know." Link puts his hands behind his head and leans back aloofly. 'Cause he's cool.

Daffodil certainly thinks so, and watches him admiringly.

"Have you killed many?"

[kokiriboy]

"I guess. Depends on how many is many, though." Link drops the aloof act and leans forward again, smiling infectiously.

"One time, I cut one's head almost all the way off and it still didn't die!"

Daffodil's eyes get very wide.

"Ew. That's disgusting!" Obviously, it's also very cool, as she's fascinated.

"You're allowed to go and fight? How old are you?" Because he doesn't look very old. But tyen, if he can fight, there's no reason for him not to, right?

[kokiriboy]

"I'm twelve, and why wouldn't I be allowed to fight? Vampires are easy." Twelve is higher than Daffodil probably would have guessed. Link's on the tiny side.

"How old are you?"

Yeah, she's kind of thought maybe he was younger than her. Older is good too, though.

"I'm eleven. And. . . I don't know. Grown-ups are silly about what children are allowed to do."
