After getting coffee, but not exactly indulging in conversation, House went across the hall to the infirmary. Stepping inside, he started to prep -- there was a lot to do, and only so many people to do it.

He had bad news to deliver, a berating to give, and -- well, God only knew what else was going to come his way while he made himself available.

And, because today her mun's internet works a lot better than yesterday --

Erin's just got a (strong) headache, really, and a cold cloth could've helped just as well as whatever they've got working as painkillers these days (presumably it's Motrin, something that's outdated by her time), the simple act of being in an infirmary helps.

It's psychological.

"Hey," she offers. "Mind if I just sit a minute?"

House glances over, having just left Natalie alone with her thoughts.

"Suit yourself. Couch is right there."

Erin does so, barely moving but to make sure that her gun, which has recently been cleaned and is catching the light in a 'shiny look at me' sort of way, is still situated.

It's around that time that she gets the idea.

"You know much about law, Doc?"

"I know that if I fight the law, the law wins," House said. "And I used to bang a lawyer. Does that count?"

He puts things so charmingly, dosen't he?

"... it might."

Erin smiles thinly. "Because we have this whole murder trial going, and we've got someone reasonable to step into just about every role except the judge."

Ut. Oh.

House turned his head sharply.

"... So, of course, you're comnig to ask Harth's personal physician to act as Judge."

"That wasn't my original plan, I just wanted the psychological effect of the hospital setting to help kill a headache. It was the staring at the wall and thinking emptily that inspired this part of the plan."

She looks a little bit more harsh and serious and a little less amused, but is still half-smiling.

"I was locked up with you for a while, y'know. I'm a good judge of character, and while there are a lot of things you're not, like tactful, that's a good thing in the person trying to keep order of something like a serious trial. And you're definitely smart enough to come up with a reasonable sentence provided she's convicted."

"And if my professional medical opinion is that one is probably sociopathic and the other is co-dependent? I'm a witness and a judge rolled into one ugly package here," he notes mildly.

"Which makes you a pretty good choice, considering."

Maybe he wouldn't be entirely inclined to have his opinion changed, but it's not likely anyone else will, either.

House rubbed his face, looking -- tired, maybe, but thoughtful.

"I have a patient dying here," he says, more quietly. "You get this set up, but my priorities are here. But if it comse down to it, I'll be your well dressed Kangaroo."
