Things have been more than a little stressful lately. There was the whole arriving here, the being locked up with Buffy while hungry thing, the war council meeting, and finding out Fred had died. Not to mention, he's on human blood again for the first time in decades ( Read more... )

Link hasn't been feeling well. The food here is good, but it's different. At least he hopes that's why he wants to throw up. So, fresh air.

Well, fresh is a relative term. And whatever Angel is doing looks interesting, so he makes his way over to the courtyard and watches.

Angel's pretty involved in his tai chi so he doesn't actually notice that he has an audience.

…It’s dancing, Link decides. Slowed down dancing without music. Which is a shame, because everyone loves music.

Link pulls out his ocarina and watches Angel move for a while, and then begins playing. If leaves made music when they fell, this is how it would sound.

Angel looked up at the sound of the music. He stops for a moment and looks at the boy playing then goes back to his tai chi, assuming that's the reason the boy is playing anyway.

Link’s glad that the dancer doesn’t stop, actually. He’s not very good at the spoken communication game.

Standing up is getting tiring, so he manages to sit without stopping playing, although it does get wobbly. Settling into a comfortable position, he closes his eyes and sinks into the music.

The music is relaxing and since Angel is doing the whole tai chi thing to relax, it's nice.

Everything is soothing and peaceful like that for a while, but Link’s lungs apparently aren’t very happy with the extra stress. He struggles for a while, and then pulls the ocarina out of his mouth.

The music is replaced with suppressed coughing. Link does not look very happy.

Angel stops what he's doing and walks over to the boy. He furrows his brow and crouches down in front of him, patting him on the back. "Are you okay?"

Link nods and curls up around the coughs which have taken a sharp, jagged edge before subsiding.

“I’m sorry,” he says, scooting away from Angel once he establishes a semi-normal breathing pattern. He can’t be sick right now, so he chooses to believe he was coughing because he got something in his throat.

"It's alright," Angel assures him then takes his cue from the boy and pulls away from him, his hands automatcially going in his pockets. "You play really well," he nods toward the ocarina.

Link smiles shyly and tilts his head forward so his hair falls in front of his eyes.

“You dance really well, too,” he lifts his head “I’m Link.”

"It's called tai chi...technically a form of meditation," Angel said. "I'm Angel."

Oh, more crazy made up words!

“You’re not a troll, are you?”

"No," Angel says, his brow furrowing.

He's never actually been called a troll.

"I'm a vampire...a good one. I don't bite."

Vampire, where has he heard that before…

“But you’re not allowed here,” Link says, tensing “Are you?”

"I am. The war council ruled I could stay here...because I'm good," Angel tells him. He can smell the worry and fear leaking off Link. He takes another step backward, hoping it'll make him more comfortable.
