Mal's been hearing about this quest for awhile. He's good with going because it'll keep him busy. He NEEDED to do something. It would keep him sane and if it brought about any kind of good for the people here, that was a plus.

His holster is around his waist filled with his pistols. This is all he needs, he's decided.

He walks outside and nods a greeting to those gathered. "Got room for one more? Need out."

He nods.

"You nuts, stupid, suicidal, and tough as old nails?"

...it's the prereqs for this trip.

"Ain't rightly suicidal or stupid but I'll do what's needed to get done what needs doin'. Reckless and tough... that I am." Mal answers honestly.

[old_bum]

"All right," he answers with a nod, "you need time to get packed up?"

[cpttightpants]

"I'm good. Got all I'm needin'." Mal nods and holds a hand out in greeting. "Malcolm Reynolds."

[old_bum]

"Parsifal of Galles, Knight of the Grail," he says, taking the hand with a self-depreciating laugh, "and the one with even a bit of an idea of where we're going."

[cpttightpants]

"A knight huh? That's shiny." Mal shook Parsifal's hand with a strong, confident handshake. "Good to know we got someone who's the navigator and a strength."

[old_bum]

"I've gone here there before," he answers with a nod, glad of the firm shake. "And I haven't been a knight for a while. I was an accountant last, and before that a few other things but it's like a bike. Never forget."

He nods to Mal.

"So what do you do then, other than go off into certain danger and follow crazy old men?"

[cpttightpants]

"Ain't really much of a follower, just a joiner. Captain of a ship called Serenity."

He pauses, remembering some of his other conversations here. "Space ship, not seaship."

[old_bum]

He nods.

"Sounds, uh... fun."

Spaceships. Shit.

"Good to have you."

[cpttightpants]

"Fun? Suppose fun could describe some of it." Mal nods slightly.

"Good to have somethin' to do. Rain the other day made me a little.... just good to be goin' out with somethin' to do."

[old_bum]

"Well, as far as I'm concerned, no one's going out," he answers. "Just a matter of getting there and getting back."

[cpttightpants]

"We'll get both of those done then. Whatever's on the agenda."

[old_bum]

He smiles.

"Glad to see someone's optimistic."

[cpttightpants]

"Gotta be. Can't accomplish nothin' if you ain't thinkin' it's possible. Gotta be cocky as can be 'bout it all."

He pauses then shrugs slightly. "Ain't nothin' that can't be done with a group that's more than sure of themselves."

Yes they said goodbye in their apartment, 310, but she's been pacing the room since he left and she's having issues with the indeterminate length of the journey so she's making a mad dash down the stairs out into the courtyard where the quest party is gathered.

"Mal," Inara says breathlessly as she comes into the courtyard. "I was afraid you'd left already. I decided I couldn't stay up in the apartment. I wanted to be down here until you left."
