[ooc: Pre-Apharsites. Treasure these moments, they'll soon be Gone]

There was nothing but the dark swirling blackness that came with being tugged back by an otherworldly force.

Disconnected bits and pieces of thought drifted in and out of his mind as he landed-hard-thrown against the wall with a loud thump-loud enough to probably wake up whatever might be stirring.

He lay, limbs askew for a few moments before jerking upright-fumbling frantically at his chest. Labcoat, shirt, tie-
They didn't kill me

The stress and tension of the past several weeks made something snap in his head and Birkin grinned stupidly. Whatever'd happened had saved him from certain death and destruction! He'd live to fight again, and his work, his precious work-

His hand went to the side. Grab the suitcase, grab Annette and Sherry and get the hell out of the-

His hand clutched at the air. Twisting his head to the side he groaned-his neck-
The case?

Had they taken it? they couldn't have-they-

Where is it? Where? He scrambled to his feet, heedless of the sudden shooting pain in his leg that nearly dropped him to the ground. Turning over planks through up dust that made the scientist cough-but none of it mattered.

It was gone.
They'd taken it.

Fear turned to confusion that twisted into anger-settling in his stomache and dropping him to his knees. They'd taken it.

He wanted to cry. This was all some sort of horrible game-he thought they'd have hurt him enough...
I could get them back. He wiped his hands across his eyes, They took it from me-they took it they took it and wherever this place is...

Struggling to his feet, Birkin wiped dirt off the front of his shirt and swallowed. They must have taken him to a prison facility-maybe Rockfort-
I don't understand? Don't they realize what I'll do? why-

He opened the door and frowned. Gray sky and dark jutting building remains-sticking out of the ground like bones. The sheer horror of the scene dropped his jaw-

The G-Virus still in the back of his mind.

He staggered down the street-peering intently around and looking for guards-wrapping his arms around his body, doing his best not to put weight on his leg.

Throughout all of this, the sudden disappearance of his wife and the obvious fact that he was no longer in Raccoon hadn't occurred to him.
