Crikey!

It's a very rare sighting of the Nickius Aphatheticus, otherwise known as Nick Carraway.

Most of you haven't met him. He's been MIA, locked up in his room for the past... very long time.

But he's in 202 now, lounging on the couch while looking through a pile of old books, that aren't "old" to him at all.

If anything, he's the old one.

He may look ( Read more... )

Nina's been roaming the halls, exploring her new home.

She treks up to the second floor, realizing she hasn't eaten in a very long time, not that she's sure what time is anymore. Noticing a room marked "202" and remembering this is where Monk said she could find food, she wanders in. Immediately she notices cans of food in the corner, walks to them, wolfs one down and examines the room.

The first thing she sees is a man sitting on a couch, looking bored.

"Hello," Nina says, directing the comment at the man.

Oh, Nina. Nick's already been watching you, and he's very impressed at the way you can eat!

He shoots a grin her way and straightens up a little.

"Hi there."

She responds to the grin with a smile of her own.

"The name's Nina. Just got here. What's your name?"

Nina can be social when she wants to be.

"Nick," he says, closing the book and tossing it back onto the table. "Been here for a while, but I've kind of... been hiding."

Hey, it's true.

"You know, with the vampires and stuff. Kind of scary for a country boy like myself."

Yes, deep down, Nick's still a country boy. The city, as he discovered, is not his thing. At. All.

Nina still hasn't seen any vampires.

"Oh, vampires? Yeah, I've got that taken care of," she says as she takes the iron cross out of her pocket and waves it around jokingly.

"Can't really relate with the country part though. I'm from Los Angeles."

She sits down next to Nick and gets comfortable. Then she sees the pile of books and points at them. "Anything good in there?"

"Ah," Nick says, and laughs a little. "Don't think that'll help you much. Josh lives here - or, as you know him, Jesus - and yet, the vampires still come. Anyway, I'm from Minnesota, but I came here from West Egg in Long Island."

His eyes sparkle, even in spite of the bags below them. The lack of human contact (aside from Gatsby) was starting to get to him.

"Not really, I was just reading up on stuff that happened after I landed here." And he literally did land here. "I'm uh, from 1923, so I'm a little behind on... well, everything."

Nina stopped getting shocked after she started hearing about vampires and the end of the world. Besides, Monk told her there were people from different times around.

"That doesn't matter much if we're stuck here, does it?"

Aw, Nina, you're no fun.

"Not really, but it's nice to know what I'm missing out on. Some of it's actually making me glad I'm here."

Nick'd take vampires over pointless wars any day. Who wouldn't?

Nina yawns. After taking care of her body's need for food, she now realizes she also hasn't slept in days. She also can't agree with Nick because her job sometimes made her be the one attempting to causing the "pointless wars." For money, of course.

"Sometimes life needs some excitement, Nick. It was nice meeting you. I need to get some sleep, it's been a long day."

Nina walks out of the room and begins roaming the halls again, looking for a free bed.

"Yeah, likewise," Nick says, blinking after her.

Well, he got told.

Shrugging, he picks his disguarded book back up and goes back to reading.
