Now, you know-- Ed's no cripple.

But he's taking a lot of interest in Kaylee's lift. It's making HIS life easier, at least, as he gimps about the levels. Sure, it's not MUCH, but it's something.

But he just got off the thing at the ground floor and went to inspect the motor with some curiosity.

Winry would really like her, he thinks, even if ( Read more... )

Ed SPRINGS up like an unlucky cat after a meeting with a rocking chair. He looks like he might yowl, too, as he stands straight and LOOKS at the Fuhrer.

"Y-- You're--"

You're not who he wanted to see.

He continues to smile in an almost friendly manner.

"Now, now, Fullmetal, calm down."

NO HE IS NOT CALMING DOWN THERE'S AN EVIL HOMUNCULUS THERE MAN.

"You're not supposed to be here!"

"I feel the same way. Unfortunately, that does not change the fact that I am, indeed, here."

He walks up and puts his hand out.

"There's no real reason to fight right now, is there? Neither one of us is in the best of positions."

THERE IS NO TAKING THAT HAND. EVIL!!! HOMUNCULUS!!!

Ed backs up RIGHT into the wall, nearly tripping over the engine in the process. "Shut up!" he says sharply. "Don't-- talk about positions to me! Right now we're both bent over the damn barrel and that doesn't make me happy at all!"

... he's been in the army. You expect him to stay an innocent sweet thing? No. Didn't think so.

"You-- how did you get here? Did you-- go through the Gate?" Tell me this isn't some sort of Homunculi vacation spot.

"Quite by accident. I was walking the grounds after taking care of some paperwork, when I fell into a hole. Normally, I would have noticed such a thing, but it seemed to have materialized beneath me. Quite odd."

He twitches slightly and pulls the hand back.

Edward straightens, his expression dark.

"You have to know if I can, I'll strand you here. For the good of Amestris. For the good of the people here, I have to reveal you. You're not human -- and you're a killer. Same as Harth."

Ever the straight forward alchemist, Edward has never beaten around the bush or lied well. It's part of what made him a good, predictable pawn.

Another amiable laugh. Almost casual.

"Oh ho! Really now! Surely you know that you can't beat me, Elric. I'm the Fuhrer, after all. That kind of talk could get one court-martialed. Someone here DOES know what I am. I saw no reason to hide it. After all, you need all the help you can get, from what I hear, and no one but you so far is native to our world. What do I care if they know I'm not fully human?"

This is Ed's jaw on the floor. "Y-Y-you just TOLD THEM?"

He had underestimated the Fuhrer's SHEER BALLS.

"Did you tell them you engineer wars, for-- for whatever that man you call Father is doing?" Edward blurts in total and abject shock.

"He guessed that I wasn't human. Rather astute young man. He called himself HUNK. I decided that telling him everything about our world would be tiresome. No need to let them in on everything, now is there, Mr. Elric?"

There's just a mind-boggling stare.

And then, tick tick tick: "So what do I get for not telling them everything, Mr. President?" he asks, his golden eyes narrowing to slits. "Where's my equivalent exchange?"

much_too_human June 14 2006, 01:24:40 UTC
"Why, the lives of the people here, of course."

That same smile.

Ed smirks.

"In all respect sir? You're outclassed here," Edward says as he leans against the wall, position casual even if his muscles are tense. "And you know, you might find this funny, but in a fight between you and Hellboy? I am so putting my money on Hellboy, sir."

"Again: What's my equivalent trade?"

Somewhere, Roy is getting that chill feeling that Fullmetal is being a stupid, cocky child. Again.

"You know, considering the orders left behind about what should be done if I go missing for too long, I would suggest you be a bit more respectful."

Ed's smile drops.

"Al and I are both here. Sort of pointless to hurt who we care about if we all go missing, you know," Edward points out. "I won't be there to know she suffers."

But I'm not going to let you hurt her.
