With some help, Zuko found himself in 202; he waited for everybody that was just out scavenging to come in and MAYBE calm down a little. But he sat back in his chair and gritted his teeth.

"Alright. Can someone tell me-- calmly-- what happened? We need to know EVERYTHING, fast, but not crazy, alright?"

Tim takes a seat, his bags under his chair, and the remains of his bow still clutched in his hand.

"They were waiting for us, the bastards. Waited until we split up, started scavenging, then they attacked."

"Alright, slow down, and one at a time. The magog were waiting at the mall?" Zuko interjected, not wanting anyone to go running off at the mouth emotionally (that was his job.)

"At the hospital, too," the redhead notes quietly, face blank, eyes hard as she glances over at Tim. "They split up and surrounded us. Blew up the first car we got working."

"And we're missing Katara."

He KNEW he should NEVER have approved her for scavenging. NEVER. Dammit. Her history with Harth made her a damn target.

"Who was where? Did it look like they were waiting for us, or did we chance on one of THEIR scavengers? What's the status on the mall? Did anyone see Katara before she was taken?"

It doesn't sound like an accusation but-- blue eyes harden anyway, defensive.

"They were waitin' for us, positioned. We started running but they grabbed the girl."

She saw her.

Mel swallows, face ashen.

"They were after her specifically?"

He was after her. He was after her and Zuko sent her out. Because of her.

Blue eyes flicker over to the girl, taking in her expression. "She's the only one they tried to grab," she replies, tone even. "Weren't so careful with the rest of us."

There's not a lot to see in the expression, unless like the redhead, you're skilled in reading faces. Then, under the deliberately set blankness, there's all sorts of emotions fighting for control - fear, anger, frustration, and a distinct hatred for standing around talking.

But she's fighting all this down. Instead she nods. "They wanted her."

What's there to say? The redhead doesn't agree or deny - just meets Mel's gaze with a carefully masked expression of her own.
