Uhm. Yay!

ANYWAY since this anon so RUDELY replied to me before I could edit my comment(I'm messing with you, anon)

Uh, as for me, I have a lot of work to catch up on before my birthday and I probably have an ACT this Saturday(that's a test like the SAT--I don't know what it stands for, though) but I'm not sure since my school ID hasn't come in yet and I can't go without some sort of ID and. . .other than that, no plans! As usual! I believe my dad wanted to see Brave, too, though.

Why are you taking the ACT instead of the SAT?

/curious because my little sister is too ;3;

Since my homeschooling caused me to inadvertently miss SATs the year I was supposed to take them(or something like that,) I obviously wound up skipping them. I called my Guidance Counselor and she said that I can supposedly take the ACT instead, if I want to. She told me her son said that it was an easier test(and you can pretty much guess most if not every answer) so I went with that to be safe. . . .

I'm just hoping she's right and it works as a substitute. .-.

/wishes your sister good luck! /;3;/

Yeah I guess after this the next round of tests won't be until October. If you're applying to college this fall you can still take the test/tests and have them count but the schools might get the results before you do which is never a fun situation to be in.

The ACT is longer and has more subjects that the SAT and was originally designed for schools in the midwest (I won't comment on easier or not, because idk and that just reenforces stereotypes) but over time as kids in the midwest wanted to go to schools on the coasts, but their schools didn't give them the option to take the SAT, higher education noticed the rift and slowly more schools on the coasts started taking it in place of the SAT. But not all schools do so you have to check with each individual school you apply to.

Also a lot will only take it if you do it with the writing section, so it better mimics the new SAT, so if you have that you should be fine? Do you know where you're looking to apply?

/wishes you good luck too \;3;\

/o\;;; I know. Sobsob but if I miss it because I don't have an ID, that's my school's fault and not mine, really. .-.

Ffffffff. I checked--I want to go to my local community college, then try to transfer to Rutgers when I'm done with those two years. I got mixed results--one site said that I didn't need to take one(SAT or ACT) for them and another said the opposite(but that I only needed the writing portion for Rutgers, but my dad said that if I transfer that I won't need to do it since I already got my credits) and I can't recall what the school said when I asked, so.

But, yeah, like I said, I might not need it? At least, I won't need it for Middlesex County College(where I intend to go first.) I looked into it, though.

/;u;/ /will do her best!

You don't have a state ID or anything else? ;o;

Well your Dad is right, if you transfer it's based solely on your academic record at your community college and the application you fill out. The application might ask for your test scores but it's not hugely important.

Community college typically likes if you have them but it isn't mandatory? Like, since a lot of their population is working adults continuing education they might not have test scores or no longer be valid (like the old SAT for example) I mean every school is different and I'd check with them again when you're applying but it shouldn't be the end of the world if you can't take the test. And there's always October like I said if it's really an issue.

N. . .o. /o\ I have no ID I DO NOT EXIST whenever I needed an ID my dad or brother is usually there to whip out their's. And like last year I PRINTED OUT THE FORMS AND FILLED THEM OUT AND EVERYTHING AND WE WERE LIKE "ALRIGHT, GONNA GET AN ID LIKE AN ADULT" and we never made the trip to the DMV so it never happened lol. /o\;;;

\o/!!!

Yeah, that's what I thought. :|a But then all the conflicting answers confused me, and I was like "well I can't apply yet anyway I'm still a highschool student" so I didn't let it get to me lol /o\ Hopefully there won't be any problems.

Mine is going to expire soon and I'm like uggghhhh dnw all that paper work. Besides my alien registration card is much cooler than my American ID. Ffff, the second time I took the SAT my ID hadn't been approved yet so I used my passport and all the teaches were like 'wat ._.'

You can still apply when you're a high school student, in fact you're supposed to!! You apply one year before you want to actually attend. So like if you want to start in Fall 2013, you fill out your application Fall 2012 (assuming you'll have your diploma by Spring 2013 ofc) But don't stress too much about it, community college is very accommodating since it mostly caters to working adults and part-timers.

But there were only two pages! . . .that I printed, anyway. Iw ouldn't be surprised if I had to go there, give them the papers, and they gave me a book to rewrite as paperwork. B-buhyoooou poor teachers. SILLYAMERICANS.

. . . . . . .oh oops lol /o\ MY DAD SAID "YOU'RE STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL YOU CAN'T APPLY ANYWAY" or maybe he was saying I can't go I don't remember. But, yeah, community college seems simple and easy, which is kind of why I intend to go, besides that I'll be getting kind of prepared for a bigger college by going, too.

I thought it was four, or maybe that was for getting my passport :|a Regardless it was too many for my liking and my picture is shit.

WELL YOUR DAD IS WRONG ABOUT THIS ONE YOU BETTER FIGURE OUT WHEN YOU HAVE TO APPLY BY OR I'll HIT YOU. But yeah, it's a really good idea and a lot of people do the first two years there to get all of the general education requirements out of the way for cheap then go to a "real" university for their degree. My advice to you is to look up Rutgers gen ed requirements as well as the requirements for the major you want to take there, and plan out a way to get as many gen ed and intro level courses as you can out of the way at community college so you're not paying for basic stuff at Rutgers.

And I can help if you want b/c I like shit like this for some reason ;3; /should have been a counselor maybe /oops no going back now
