Signups for the spring 2010 round of The Hetalia Rarepairs Exchange are officially OPEN!

Check this post for important information about the challenge -- I've reposted the signup guidelines and the list of ineligible pairings, but there's a lot of other stuff in that post that you should read.

Signups will remain open until Friday, March 5, 2010 ( Read more... )

AHHHHH. I didn't even see that the Prussia/Canada pairing was inelligible!!!
Is it too late for me to argue a pairing? I'm doing it anyway.
You said that any pairing who's community has over 300 members is inelligible: the Prussia/Canada community only has 281 members. Therefore, Prussia/Canada should be allowed, right?!?!

Generally, yes. However, a few people pointed out to me that Prussia/Canada has 125 fics on ff.net alone, which is more fics than a lot of the other pairings on the definitely-excluded list have, and that it's one of the top ten ships featured in hetalia_daily, which seems to move it out of the rarepair category -- or, well, the "rarepair" category as defined by this challenge. (In addition, the comm seems pretty active.)

At this point, I'd rather not revise the list since so many people have already signed up, but thanks for expressing your concern. There are still lots of other pairings with Prussia and Canada that are eligible, though.

You do have the right not to accept requests, yes -- I'm hoping this situation doesn't arise, but if none of your requests make you happy, talk to me and I'll do my best to make sure you get something you DO want.

(And this goes for everyone, by the way.)

Do ancient nations like Egypt, Greece and Magyar count? I am unsure as to their "official" status.

Good question. Yes to Mama Egypt and Mama Greece, as I'm fairly sure the latter has appeared in a sketch somewhere, even if it's no longer available on Himaruya's site (and as for Mama Egypt, well -- he's mentioned her, and more than once, I think! We know she exists!). As for Magyar, if you can link me to the post (or translation of the post) where Himaruya mentions him, then sure, why not.

Wow, that was quick!

That's a big relief about Egypt and Greece- and actually Magyar was just mentioned in one of Himaruya's blogs as Hungary's ancestor/mentor- I didn't even know, I just saw him listed as one of the ancient nations on the Hetalia wiki and I thought "wait what? that is awesome." So he probably doesn't count, but that's totally fine- I have more than enough pairings now.
